The Astros postioned themselves well by picking up an All Star ace starting picture to slide into the #3 spot. Should be another fun post season.

True.
And I like catcher Maldonado coming back. He's an elite defensive catcher and will help every Astros pitcher. The Astros lineup is so solid, that a catcher with a no-hit, all-glove ability will not be an issue.
Sanchez is a bit of a gamble, but if the Astros can straighten him out, he could be a good addition as a starter or reliever.

Last night in Cleveland the Astros showcased a truly complete team: pitching, hitting, and defense. Barring injuries, they are positioned for a deep post season run.

Speaking of defense, last night and Maldonado.... he tagged two out at home. :D

Sanchez had a strong outing his first time out as pitched 6 hitless innings and was part of the 4 pitcher no hit game last week. It appears that he blisters rather easy and sure enough, he was looking at his fingers often. From what I'm reading the Astros pitching coach Strom wants him to throw more curveballs. Sanchez is said to have more than 4" curve & drop than the average MLB curveball. That's a lot!

When U have Josh Reddick in the 9 hole you've got a strong and deep line up. Ask the Orioles who just got obliterated. Can you say " Air Yordan?"

And unfortunately, Reddick may be playing his last days as an Astro. Which is a shame. He's good egg, but his contracxt is due and there are too many young guns that'll get playing time.

Marisnick is one of our favorites. I, also think Reddick is probably finished as an Astro. I hope Marisnick gets a chance as a full-timer. They gave Tyler White nearly 100 games. No reason not to give maybe the best defensive outfielder in baseball a chance, especially if he can continue to hit around .250.

White would still be around if it wasn't for the latest sensation Alvarez. His emergence sent White packing.

If Alvarez were playing 1st base occasionally, I think I would agree his emergence sent White packing.
My opinion is, when Correa and Diaz both went down with injuries, Gurriel had to move from first to the left side (Bregman to SS and YG to 3B), they really had no one left to play First consistently.
Once Correa and Diaz were both healthy, White was relegated to his natural position - Minor League Baseball Player.
The Astros won 65% of their games in spite of White. Had they not maintained their position, I believe White would heave been gone a lot sooner. I think they would have brought up a minor-leaguer and given someone else a chance.
I think the off-season this year needs to be spent teaching Alvarez the 1B position. Then he and Gurriel can be a viable tandem that can play DH/1B. If you need both in the game at the same time (ie. a NL park), Gurriel can move to the left side and give Bregman or Correa a day off, with Alvarez playing 1B.
