LSU coach Les Miles is banning his players from bars as a result of tight end Dillon Gordon being stabbed several times in an overnight incident at a bar near campus.
Gordon was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries described byBaton Rouge police to NOLA.com as "lacerations rather than stab wounds."
The incident occurred at Reggies at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. The Baton Rouge Police Department said a motive and suspect are unknown.
"It's just not worth it," Miles said. "The reason you go out is you want social interaction. Social interaction can take place at home, it can take place at class and at a number of places. You don't have to go to fight night."
According to NOLA, Miles knew of one other player at the bar at the time but didn't think that player had any involvement.
A source told the Advocate Gordon suffered three stab wounds to the chest. Another source said Gordon suffered stab wounds to the leg and the abdomen.
Gordon was released from the hospital and is "OK," according to the school and his Twitter account.
