Baylor may be doing good things on the football field on Saturdays but the off-the-field drama continues this week. J.W. Ketchum has been removed from the Baylor roster due to a violation of team rules. Baylor head coach Art Briles has not disclosed what violation or violations Ketchum has committed to lead to the removal from the roster.
Ketchum was placed in jail in mid-August for a marijuana possession charge. The freshman safety was released from jail the next day. Despite not yet playing for ?Baylor this season, he will remain on scholarship at Baylor and will be eligible to use a redshirt year of eligibility this fall. According to The Waco Tribune, Ketchum is not participating in Baylor practices but is continuing to work out with Baylor strength and conditioning coaches.
A four-star recruit out of high school, Ketchum was the nation’s 10th best athlete according to Rivals. In addition to playing safety, Ketchum was a dual-threat quarterback in high school. The Houston native committed to Baylor last October. He did not appear on any of Baylor’s depth charts this season.
