James started it and it just continues. Guys want to win championships so they just gang to the best teams. Makes the NBA season boring as hell. Just let the Cavs and Warriors tee it up and cancel the rest of the season. Golden State dumps Barnes and replaces him with Durant. The regular season is meaningless now. There really are only 2 teams with a chance.

Really disappointed in Durant. Never thought he would play for another franchise. Maybe he thought Westbrook would be leaving after next season. Just shocked.

Its a weak move by Durant. I can't see how winning a championship by joining a team of all stars is all that impressive. Ala Lebron

I hoped he would stay here and win HIS Championship with HIS Team...Don't think GSW can handle 2 MVPs at one time...Curry OWNS that team and KD will just be another Piece in the Puzzle...Seems ill advised, IMO...

KG and Ray Allen started it, when they went to play with Pierce in Boston...and Rhondo was also there.

If the Warriors had won, maybe. But Curry didn't ball on an MVP level in the finals, so they know what they need. Durant is top 2 or 3 in the NBA, he is not just another piece on any team.

This is an even worse move than LeBron going to Miami. This reeks of KD simply jumping on a bandwagon. KD and OKC were up 3-1 on Golden State, and the meltdown of the Thunder was mostly on KD's shoulders. KD is basically running away from a team that is already one of the top teams in the NBA. Or hell, maybe he just wanted out of the OKC area and would prefer to live on the west coast.

Now that the FA stakes are over and OKC is left out in the cold it will be an interesting year without KD.

Screw Curt Flood. It's why I am not a fan of "team" pro sports, and why I'll never understand someone who buys a jersey with someone else's name on it. If I want to follow a bunch of mercenaries, I'll read Soldier of Fortune.

Smith doesn't understand Durant. Durant has never cared about being THE man. He loves to ball, and he'll have a great time in the bay area. It's a great place to live if you can afford the rent. I think he's happier being one of the guys then having all the pressure on him. Some guys like Jordan thrive under pressure. Some guys would just as soon be one of a few great players on a team and win championships. You can't bag on a guy for being who he is. If the Lakes can have Magic, Kareem, and Worthy all on the same team, the Warriors can manage the team they have. I'm just sad because I wanted someone new to win it. Makes the season more interesting. The Mavs will suck once again, so need someone to root for.

If Westbrook doesn't sign an extension, he'll be gone also. Without those guys, will this team get the support they need to keep a team in OKC. I can't foresee a lot of big time FA's, wanting to live and play in Oklahoma. Being #1 in police brutality may scare a few players off.
That's so ridiculous it's not worthy of rational response.
You're embarrassing yourself even further.
My holy God, go away.

Stephen A. Smith is right on the money
I agree, and it also worries me that I find myself agreeing with Stephen A Smith on something. It literally makes me think my thinking on this matter may be flawed since I'm in agreement with that boob. Lol

The irony is that the Thunder would have won the GS series if Durant hadn't gone all hero ball in game 6.
This!!!! ^^^^^^^^ All day long!!!!

I'm not going to turn on the guy just because he is doing what is best for KD. He did a lot for the Thunder and I thank him. It is just the nature of professional sports, which is why I really dislike professional sports in general.

College sports is not much different except that it only allows a player four years of play. Trevor is a great example. He could have spent his 4th year at OU and didn't. He's one of many, many examples. Geno Lewis to OU this fall is another example. They're everywhere.

I can't imagine Magic Johnson leaving the Lakers for the Celtics that just beat him in the playoffs. I could see if he was on a team that sucked, but the Thunder would be right up there again playing for a possible championship. He also made less money by going to GS? Just doesn't make any sense. Maybe he was tired of playing with russell ball hog westbrook.

Well, I'm agog with all this common sense run amok.
You guys are pretty good.

I watch some NFL games and less NBA games every year. No baseball on my tv screen of MLB only little league and college. I lost interest in pro sports because of free agency. I used to love the NFL when players had careers with one team. As far as Durant after reading Trammel I would have expected him to leave long ago. Three high schools in four years. UT for one season. I used to think UT would win a National Championship if he stayed. Now I doubt very seriously if he could have. One story headline in the Austin Statesman this morning made me smile. The headline read how Kevin Durant to Warriors can help Texas get more money. I guess shoes or something. Give me a break. We need a spending cap on college sports teams now days.

You are absolutely correct. Free agency has ruined pro sports. These guys now play for 5 different teams before they are done.

How screwed up would it have been if Colt finished up playing at OU and Bradford at Texas? Hell, Colt grew up a huge Cowboy fan and hated the Redskins, which is who he ended up playing for. Zero loyalty in pro sports and a total sham. Look at the Spurs, half the team is from another country.

Say what you will about Shaquille O'Neal, but even he stated that every player should be tied to the team that drafted them as long as they are matching others offers. I liked the 30 for 30 piece on the Orlando Magic, and he sits down with Anfernee Hardaway at the end and discusses this. He somewhat regrets leaving Orlando to go to the Lakers.
