IMG Academy suspends director accused in bribery scandal
MANATEE COUNTY — The United States District Court in Boston has charged 36-year-old Mark Riddell, who had served as the director of college entrance exam preparation at IMG Academy, with two counts of fraud and is asking for a forfeiture of nearly $500,000 in connection with a nationwide college admissions bribery case.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said dozens of individuals involved in conspiracy to facilitate cheating on college entrance exams and the admission of students to elite universities as purported athletic recruits were arrested Tuesday by federal agents in multiple states.

Riddell, a Sarasota High School graduate, had been listed as director of college entrance exam preparation at IMG Academy, where he began working in 2006. According to his biography on the school’s website, which was taken down shortly after the federal court filings were announced and the Herald-Tribune called the private school seeking comment, Riddell also provided customized private tutoring.

Singer provided Riddell with an example of Parent 1′s child’s handwriting so Riddell could imitate it when taking the exam, court documents state. Riddell flew to Houston to take the test and returned the same day to Tampa, court document show.
Riddell scored a 35 on the test — the top score is 36.
