Last spring I thought that I might hang up all my Sasquatch gear and call it a career. But as fall approached, I started getting twitchy and hot to trot and decided to rethink my decision.
So Monday , with snow on the ground, and the north wind just being brutal, I decided to take a daytime woods walk. I just wanted to check out my mettle and see if there was still a smoldering Fire in my belly.
So I got out a 10mm pistol, a belt knife with a 9” blade, 2 extra magazines, a fire making kit, and dressed appropriately and rolled out in my truck.
Buster was really pissed because I didn’t take him. He’s so short that he couldn’t handle the snow and I’d end up carrying his little ass.
I went to some hilly woods , out towards Haskell.
Anyway, I hiked around for about an hour and a half and it really felt good. Mr Wiggles was the only hinderance. First time I needed to take a leak and he felt that cold north wing, he went into hiding.
I finished and went back to the truck and headed home. At that point I decided that I was good for another season.
For those of you who’ve read about my prior hunts, know that I’m a nighttime hunter, under a full moon. I go out around 9pm and stay out to around 2 or 3 am.
If that big hairy bastard is out there, I’ll find him. I got to start working on my howl.
I’m going to shoot for getting in a hunt in before Christmas. I’ll keep you boys posted.
