The 2021 Texas Legislature will try again to eliminate the nonsensical ritual of switching time twice annually.
California and Florida has signed into law Daylight Saving Time year round. Federal law permits Standard or Daylight Saving only as the practice is now. Hawaii and all of Arizona except the Navajo and Hopi in Arizona opt out of Daylight Saving. Year round Daylight Saving is not permitted by Federal law. When Senator Rubio of Florida introduced legislation for a waiver in the Senate for Florida, few Senators showed interest.
It is my conjecture, if Texas should ever make the move, states such as Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana would make a switch.
