Oklahoma is one of five undefeated teams still standing, and on the heels of the squad's three-wins-in-four-days performance in Hawaii last week, star Buddy Hield is the clear-cut most recent recipient of the CBS Sports Player of the Week award.

The Bahamian born baller put up 28.7 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 13 for 22 from 3-point range in OU's run to the Diamond Head Classic title. The Sooners got past Washington State, Hawaii (on the 9-2 Rainbow Warriors' home floor, no less) and Harvard.

Hield, who has scored 25 points or more in five consecutive games, also has command of the No. 1 spot on Kenpom.com's kPOY calculator. On Friday, prior to his 35 points and in Oklahoma's title game-winning showing against Harvard, I ranked him No. 3 in the national player of the year race. I'd put him at No. 2 as of today, just a hair behind the injured Denzel Valentine. He's gotten better with each week, and Oklahoma is a national title contender because its star has improved his all-around offensive game to a level that didn't seem likely two years ago.
