A coach as good as Gundy, who will stay, rather than using the school as a stepping stone.

Not sure if it's just because his brother is a long, long timer at OU, but I like OSU's head guy. I liked him when he gave the "I'm 40" diatribe. I like him because he scares or beats Texas most years, with a whole lot less top recruiting classes. And they don't beat us much.

If they fire him, five years from now, they'll look back with regret.

Good stuff. How many men fought with Pickens and live to tell about it while continuing to win and make more money. I like him, great coach for young men IMO.

I don't care about his shirt. If he said some of the stuff his ex-players claim he said to them, I'm not a fan. Threatening a kid with anything other than exercise is weak.

It seems like a lot of these weak coaches slick talk families with promises of family and treating their kids as their own, then at the first sign of difficulty, they treat them like trash and are ready to ship them out. Which way is it?

I think Gundy is as good as it will ever get for OSU. He's a coach that any program would be lucky to have.....and is far and away OSU's greatest head coach.
OSU needs to keep him until he retires.
Born in Oklahoma, played football in high school and college in Oklahoma, and coached in Oklahoma.
No OU coach can make that claim. (John Blake was born in Illinois).

I have always liked Gundy because he's a football student and continually adapts to the game. He also seems to fight for his guys.

I am disappointed in his handling of the t-shirt issue. Instead of pandering to the mob, he could have used this as an opportunity to educate today's brats that people are allowed to have differing opinions and you don't get your way just by yelling that it offends you.

Greater than Jimmy Johnson? That's a stretch. Jimmy knew where the ceiling was at OSU.

Gundy has been "greater" at OSU than Johnson....that's all I'm saying.
But who's to say Gundy wouldn't have had better success coaching at Miami, Texas, Alabama, etc., out from under OU's shadow. Gundy's ties with OSU as a player and coach reveal to me his love of and loyalty to OSU.
Jimmy Johnson......5 years, 29-25 record, 2 bowl appearances-winning one of them. Lost all of his 5 games with Oklahoma. Obviously, Johnson knew he could not compete or recruit against "big brother" OU. Then at Miami, his teams won its three games against OU and were clearly the better team in each game, even with OU having three of its best teams ever (1985-1987).
Mike Gundy.......15 years, 129-64, 14 bowl appearances with 9 wins. Lost 12 of 14 games with Oklahoma.

I’m guessing the OAN shirt was a freebee. If there is a chance that one of my shirts might get destroyed, it’s going to be one of those freebee shirts.

Since I have never owned or received an orange shirt, I suppose I need to think about what I would do if I ever received one.

To be fair, does anyone know what was said behind closed doors with Chuba? Are we sure he pandered to the mob?
