OSU beating a Texas is the...

So much for Texas winning the Oklahoma "state championship".
This game only magnifies the anguish of losing to Texas three weeks ago and it also makes Mike Stoops' removal even more justifiable. OSU did not stop Texas...all it did was contain them. That's all OU had to do.
I hope I never see another OU loss like last year's Georgia game and this year's Texas game. Maybe OU has turned the corner on playing arena football with Stoops' firing.
History lessons learned by OU based on single games losses:
1966 Notre Dame....a game that showed OU that size does matter, as well as team speed. OU was outweighed 38 lbs. per man in that game. Linebacker Harry Hettmansbeger of OU said he thought his team was playing the Green Bay Packers when Notre Dame ran out on the field. 38-0 Notre Dame.
1970, following the loss to Oregon State in which OU's offensive sputtered and brought to light by Switzer, OU's OC at the time, that the team had the personnel to switch to the wishbone two weeks before the Texas game. OU lost badly to a great Texas team, but the coaches came away seeing the great potential of OU running the wishbone. The rest is history.
1985-1986-1987 defeats to Miami...revealed to OU's coaches that the wishbone was becoming harder to run against teams like Miami. I think those three losses to Miami, by three of OU's greatest teams ever, spelled the end of the wishbone at OU. History certainly seems to reflect this. Cale Gundy's recruitment in 1990 is further evidence that OU sought to use a more balanced offense.
2018 Texas....hopefully the "last straw" in OU playing poor defense and its priority of having great offenses at the expense of playing even marginally better defense. In Riley's time as HC at OU, he's lost three games....his teams averaged 41 points (31-38 to ISU, 48-54 to Georgia, 45-48 to Texas). I believe the loss to Texas this year might.....might....be a wake up call for Riley and his staff. There's early evidence that is may have.

Drifter, I cannot agree with you. IF we win out (this is a BIG IF) and beat any other one conference loss team in the Big XII Championship Game then we are in. If Texas wins out we see them again. Texas' road to the promise land has the same obstacles as OU's. Our road to the Final Four will be paved by teams currently ahead of us in the standings. We need Bama to beat LSU (a one loss Bama still gets in), Kentucky to beat Georgia, Bama to beat Kentucky (or Georgia) in the SEC Conf Champ Game, Michigan to lose to Penn St and Ohio State. It would help if ND would lose but I don't see it on their schedule. I think OSU provided a blueprint on how to beat Texas. As long as our Defense is improving then there is no blueprint for beating OU.

last thing we needed! Our SOS just went into the abyss.
We play both teams, no not as much mathematically as you would think. Only hurts if we end up playing UT a 2nd time; would be worth a few % points in that instance. (Computers calculations)

Optically for the human voters, yeah, you're right. We needed a 1-loss UT team rematch in the Big XII Champ game.

But even knowing that, I still loved seeing UT implode and Herman completely losing it at the end of the game -- and then Gundy giving him a nice lecture in the post-game handshake was icing on the cake LOL

Don't know if you saw the ending to the game but Tom Herman once again showed that he's a wierdo/douchebag and Hager is a roided-out punk.
Both drama queens...Gundy’s purse was admired by Herman after game. I thought Gundy and Herman for sure were going to lip lock. Frankenstein appears to be poised for 2 losses in a row to a current and former Okie Light coach lol.

Gundy was just defusing a volatile situation by running on the field and wanted to let Herman know that he was only trying to separate his players from further confrontation.

Win out convincingly, and we should have no worries. If we stumble or struggle, it will probably end our campaign for the CFP.

ND goes to Northwestern..........not an easy game and could easily be an upset.

You’re right, and if we struggle we shouldn’t get into the playoffs. Besides, at this point there is one team that is far better than all the others, but things can change. You never know.

No doubt Alabama looks like the Giant in the field while everyone else looks like midgets. However with that being said we know Bama’s defense isnt as good as it has been in the past.

I honestly believe that OU has the one offense that can put pressure on Alabama but could the defense make enough stops to make the game interesting. Bama offense is for real but like everyone David can be slain.

I expect LSU to give Bama some problems this weekend with that D they have but the Tigers problem is its lack of offense. It will be interesting though to see if Tua is actually forced to play 4 quarters and how Bama reacts to a close game.

Bama likely wins though 42-7 so my thoughts back fire

Alabama is to college football what the Red Sox were to baseball this year and that's basically a team intelligently put together and fundamentally sound with a great coach/manager.
I felt strongly that the World Series would last 4-5 games.
I feel the same way about Alabama. No one is beating them this year.

We need to win out and win convincingly in each of our remaining games. We need some things to fall our way as well. LSU should lose this week, and Bama should be able to take care of Georgia in the SEC Championship game providing Bama doesn't stub their toe against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. If this happens only one SEC team makes the playoff. If Notre Dame or Michigan lose, we will be in the playoff.

texASS getting beat every week, is fine with me. They are a biggest rival for recruits and an unsettled ship only helps OU
I said i was for Texass all week..told my buddies i wanted them to win (cuz it will help us down the line)...may have actually believed it too until Okie Lite came out and scored and i cheered for em without even thinking. Hating T-sip is so deeply driven into my core being that i cannot change. ALL true OU fans should feel that way. all the time.

We shouldn't have lost to Texass. At least we got rid of Mike, so in the long run we did win that day.
OU Offense was responsible for scoring 45 points and OU defense was responsible for Texas scoring 48 points. We had everything to do with both sides of that scoreboard. Help was needed to prevent it from happening again. That help was given by showing Mike the door.
