One of the most surreal things I'll always remember about the 2020 season...

It was a major accomplishment. It was a transition year at best. And It sure sucked to lose two conference games early. But I do think it took some of the pressure off the coaches and players to repeat as B12 Champions. They took they beatings via the press, the fans, and each other in early October and never looked back after the Texas game. This is a good football team that is going to get better in the next couple of years.

I didn't get to see much of the Bama/Fla. game but if the score is any indication we will have our hands full.

Bamas offense is ridiculous and I am not even sure their oline is as good as they normally are (yet). Their defense is not a Bama defense we are used to...but that damn qb from Florida is good! Big loss for them with the TE opting out, I mean big. They have one other offensive weapon who stands out to me, #1...I think Morey. Great player lines up as wr and in the backfield. The qb, though, is the best player OU will see this year...really good. Accurate, nice touch down field, and can get a 3rd/4th and short no problem.

Florida's quarterback, Trask, didn't start in high school. Then he worked his way to the top of the Gator depth chart, and had a sensational 2020 season. There was some Heisman talk. This is the most open Heisman year I can imagine. Number 84 is so good, that Saban said, "we had no way to match up with him," in Saban's CBS interview when the game was over.

The SEC CCG seemed to be over at half. But Florida outscored CT 14-0 in the 3rd Q to make it a game, and then they just about traded scores the rest of the night I went to watch something else, and was shocked at the score starting the 4th Q. Bama wasn't going to get caught, but at the end, the Gators went for 2 after scoring a late touchdown cut a 14-point lead to six, but got the ball back with under 30 seconds left backed up to their own red zone. after a failed onsides kick and a Bama punt after three and out. Bama didn't let them out. The game ended on sack.

A&M beat Florida early in the year in Collie Station, but FLorida likely got a little boost from playing Bama better than anybody. They also lost the week before the CCG to LSU on the famous thrown shoe. Otherwise, they might have been in the CFP after the way last night went.

Fortunately for us, #84 isn't going to play in the bowl game.

He didn't look like a tight end. He was built like Dez Bryant. Glad to know that. It could help the good guys. Last time we played the Gators, their beat offensive threat was just returning and we were missing the guy who is now our running backs coach.

The talking heads say that Pitts is the best tight end to come along in years. I'm glad our guys won't have to try to cover him. Yeah, he's a beast. Even without him, Trask is going to be a problem. He's head and shoulders above any quarterback we've seen this year.

You're in good company. Riley used the the word surreal about four times in his post game. Never heard him use it before.

LOL. I didn't see his post game, but I did attempt to find a word synonymous with 'surreal', and only came up with 'dreamy'. Not a convincing word to use when discussing football. ☺

Excellent season to build on. Perfect in some ways.

If we continue to develop the young offensive players, and Grinch gets the defense to the next level (I.e. great), we are going to steam roll the BIg XII next year.

Great posts.....and yet after all that happened, some are unhappy with winning a conference championship the way that OU did.
This fractured season should serve as a building block for Riley and the program.
It would have if Riley didn’t have and call a terrible offensive game plan against BU and ISU back to back. The lousy game plan and poor offensive OL performance cost OU likely 3-4. Five star recruits including the only RB we had been recruiting since October. Riley’s building block is fractured. He better hire an all world coach and recruiter to replace Beamer and get some Mojo back. WS

OU scored enough to win both games.
The defense doomed OU, as it has done so often in recent years.
And Stevenson's and Perkins' absences were felt along with Rattler's early season growing pains.
OU has had a good recruiting haul, even without Wheaton, who understandably was seduced by Saban and his great program. When the final recruiting tally is in, I think Riley will add a few more good players.....plus there is always the transferring players who have historically been huge for OU.
