I’m starting to believe. Multiple sources have indicated to me that Oklahoma has the inside track to beat out Tennessee and the rest of the crowd for the former five-star lineman.

I’ve covered enough portal recruitments to know that there’s plenty of time and space for things to change on a dime, especially with such a highly valued player. But the optimism is real with the former LSU Tiger.

**** UPDATE 8:50pm ****

It does not sound like Oklahoma will end up with Terrence Ferguson… but I doubt any of y’all will care as long as the Sooners can pull Heard. I was also told that the Bedenbaugh factor has been VERY significant here. Yes, Heard would get a check at OU, and that much should be obvious. But it’s not as if the Sooners pulled a Godfather and decided to make him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Beyond the money, Oklahoma is selling development and a future in the NFL, and that has hit home with Heard and his camp. Bedenbaugh is what has given OU the leg up on the competition.

It’s gonna be a tough scene for the Bedenbaugh dissenters if the Sooners close the deal.

There should also be good portal news coming tonight — not related to the offensive line — as long as the OU creative department can finish up an edit by EOD.

**** UPDATE 11:25pm ****

The good news I teased will drop tomorrow.

**** UPDATE Mon 9:05am ****

And just like that, overnight, there is more optimism on Ferguson. I’m still skeptical, but just figured I would let y’all know there is a chance, and more of a chance than there seemed to be as of last check with sources. OU can haz elite OL transfers?!
