It was a thrilling weekend for Oklahoma Athletics, with standout performances across multiple sports from Thursday, February 20, to Sunday, February 23, 2025. The Sooners showcased their talent and depth, securing impressive victories against top-tier opponents in basketball, gymnastics, baseball, and softball.
The action kicked off Thursday with the No. 16 Oklahoma women’s basketball team dominating Vanderbilt 101-81 at home. Raegan Beers led the charge with a career-high 30 points and 14 rebounds, shooting an efficient 11-for-13. Supported by Zya Vann (14 points) and Payton Verhulst (13 points), the Sooners shot 52% from the field and pulled away in the second half for their fourth straight win, marking their fifth 100-point game of the season.

On Friday, the No. 1 women’s gymnastics team dazzled against No. 5 Florida, posting a season-high 198.075 to Florida’s 196.625. Faith Torrez stole the show, winning the all-around (39.775) with a perfect 10 on floor—Oklahoma’s first of the season—plus titles on vault (9.95) and beam (9.925). The Sooners swept all event titles, highlighted by a 49.775 on floor, in front of nearly 10,000 fans at Lloyd Noble Center.

Also on Friday, the No. 25 baseball team edged Minnesota 3-2 at the Karbach Round Rock Classic. Kyson Witherspoon struck out a career-high 12 over seven innings, while Kyle Branch and Sam Christiansen delivered clutch RBIs. Dylan Crooks sealed the win with a two-inning save, keeping OU undefeated at 4-0.

Saturday brought more fireworks. The men’s basketball team snapped a five-game skid with a 93-87 upset over No. 21 Mississippi State. Jeremiah Fears dazzled with 27 points and 10 assists, while Jalon Moore (18 points) and Sam Godwin (17 points, 10 rebounds) fueled a second-half surge, shooting 68% to secure a critical Quad 1 victory. Meanwhile, the baseball team toppled No. 7 Oregon State 8-4, powered by home runs from Scott Mudler and Easton Carmichael, plus Kyle Branch’s three RBIs, improving to 5-0.

Sunday capped the weekend in style. The women’s basketball team crushed Arkansas 94-54, with Beers again dropping 30 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range. The No. 1 softball team stayed perfect (12-0), routing Wichita State 8-1. Isabela Emerling broke out with a home run and RBI double, while Sam Landry notched her 500th career strikeout in a 10-strikeout gem. Finally, the baseball team outlasted No. 2 Virginia 5-4 in a 12-inning thriller at the Round Rock Classic, showcasing resilience to close a historic weekend.

From Beers’ scoring outbursts to Torrez’s perfection and Landry’s milestone, Oklahoma Athletics delivered a memorable stretch, reinforcing their dominance across the board.
