Looking at the schedules for both teams and speculating on the season ahead:
Ohio State plays home games with Maryland, Penn State and Michigan State and visits Iowa and Michigan. From what I saw last night, especially from J.T. Barrett, I think Ohio State could face a slippery slope the rest of the way. A great win for OU and Riley, but the game last night has me wondering if Ohio State is really a top ten team.
Texas plays at USC, at Iowa State and home against K-State before its game with OU....then plays Ok-State at home the week after OU. It appears we will know just how formidable Texas is by the time OU plays them on 10/14. If Texas loses to USC, but plays a competitive game, that will tell me that the Horns are a threat to, once again, challenge OU severely, just as the last 4 RRR games have shown.
Texas will play OU tough and an upset would put Texas back on track in its rebuilding effort.
Texas seems to have a better offense than Ohio State having scored 97 points in its first two games so they have me concerned.
With Tulane, Baylor and Iowa State to play before the Texas game, OU will enter the RRR unbeaten. So from my perspective, OU needs to keep playing well and get Andrews and Johnson healthy by October 14.
