How did AT&T Stadium manage to snag the chance to host the world premiere of 13 Hours?
“It’s actually a pretty simple story,” says Chad Estis, executive vice president for business operations for the Dallas Cowboys. “Paramount reached out to us and asked if we were interested.
“Of course, we immediately were. We’ve talked about hosting a movie premiere ever since the stadium opened. But it’s not easy to wrestle these things away from Hollywood, so we’d not been able to get one until now.”
As many as 20,000 to 25,000 people are expected to attend the event at 8 p.m. Tuesday. “We don’t know if that’s a record, but it’s obviously a lot more than your usual movie premiere,” Estis says.
It will be general admission seating — end zone to end zone — in the club seat areas on the north side of the stadium. The movie will play on the massive 180-foot-by-72-foot video board, which will be lowered to give moviegoers better sightlines.
“We’ve also brought in some extra sound to enhance the experience,” Estis says. “We’ll use the speakers we already have, but we’ve brought in some additional sound that will shoot out from down around the field.
“We think it’s going to be a well-produced experience for the customers who come to take it in.”
Before the movie begins, there will be red-carpet arrivals by director Michael Bay, cast members and even the real-life heroes of Benghazi whose story inspired the film.
There also will be musical performances by Madison Rising and Chris Cornell.
