Just not buying it anymore fellas.
It gets said a lot that our public perception and credibility take a real hit when UT isn’t good. To a small point I agree, but I dont believe it really hurts us.
Nobody seems to care anymore if UT is good - as it relates to OU.
Here are some correlations to UT being terrible:
1) We broke out of a major recruiting slump - beginning with Stoops’ last couple classes, and continuing on to the elite level there LR has us in
2) We played in 2 out of the last 3 CFP, and were selected to two Sugar Bowls - winning both over SEC opposition. That’s a run of 4 marquee bowl games in the last 7 years, all of which required us to have a degree of National respect and recognition to achieve.
Is it merely coincidence that this run of consistency has occurred when UT was way down? Maybe the combination of beating them consistently and their drop off in recruiting has actually helped us.
