What teams are you worried about on the 2022 Sooner schedule?

I would list Baylor. Who else would you list?

Texas, Baylor, OSU
I’m actually going to be feeling pretty good about most of them because I’m very hopeful that we get back to playing a type of defense next year where we can be hopeful/expecting not to have a total meltdown either in the passing or rushing defense. Baylor last year, yes played the pass well enough to win but guess what? We gave up 300 on the ground. I would just like to think we’re going to look somewhat more normal on defense and the O should improve under Lebby and that tempo.

With our attrition on the defensive line I'm less optimistic. I hope BV can turn things around but I think Baylor will be our most difficult game even at home (depending on who they lose, injuries, etc.). Who knows which teams show up in Dallas. Could be a blow out either way or nail-biter. I have no clue how Texas seems to keep us on the edge and yet loses to Kansas.

OU barely escaped Kansas this season. OU and Texas really were not their vintage selves this season. Not by a long shot.

Let’s face it, BV has the task of changing the no defense mentality that has permeated the last 10years of OU football. I truly believe BV will bring marked results in that category in his first year
Agree.
And I hope OU can "SEC-ready" itself by 2025.....that's three seasons to wean itself off of the all-offense-no-defense stagnation that we are all so frustrated with.
The 2022 schedule starts at home with cupcakes like UTEP and Kent State before traveling to Nebraska. That should allow OU to get settled and give the coaches time to play many players, iron out some wrinkles and develop depth before facing Big 12 competition.
I see at least 10 true freshman (out of the 15-16 so far) making contributions.

Given the coaching moves the Sooners made, and the Shorthorns bad decision on the .500 Coach (Sark), the Sooners take them by storm. This until the Sark succumbs to intense criticism and pressure...like all the rest since Mack Brown’s fall from grace.

Texas has many issues for sure but since their loss by 63-21 in 2013, 8 years ago, every game with Texas has been challenging with OU barely escaping with a single score difference (or an average score of 39-34) and two agonizing defeats by OU in 2015 and 2018.
As long as OU can continue to improve its W/L record against Texas (now at 50-62-5), I'll be very satisfied. But I miss having this rivalry mean more in the national spotlight.

Once OU starts SEC play there will be plenty of national spotlight games. OU no longer needs it to be Texas. I don’t care if Texas is ever good or great again. OU is fixing to have bigger fish to fry. Texas will always be a national rivalry game for OU regardless of records.

basically what I am saying CT is that anyone who follows CFB knows how big of a game the RRR is.

When do we start playing BYU? I know we have the excuses, but the bottom line is we're oh and two against them.

Having followed CFB/OU all my life I know that the Texas-Oklahoma game is each school's biggest rivalry, but my point is with Texas tanking in recent years and OU's problems in the post season, the rivalry is not as big....on a national level.... as it's been historically through most all of my 73 years.
Texas just isn't Texas anymore and while that's not a problem at all for me, it does lessen the rivalry's importance nationally....outside the two fan bases of OU and Texas.
The rivalry is now more about recruiting leverage and it always will be regardless of each team's records.

Surely Texas will get better eventually. But I know Longhorn fans are shaking in their boots just thinking about OU and A&M kicking their ass in the future. They are not use to that. Hee hee.

Austin ain't called "weird" for nothin, but, they're gittin weirder by the day and it's seeped into longhorn university policy it seems. I wouldn't be surprised to see cfb's first trans suited up in burnt orange. 😉

Texas will get better and its decline pales in comparison to the drought we had from 1989-1998. Prior to Stoops' hiring, I wondered if OU would every be a CFB "blue blood" again. 2000 wiped out that concern, but I figured I would see 3 or 4 more championships for the next 15-20 years.

Yes Texas will get better with offering players all kind of money. Didn’t they recently offer OL some big money to come play for them openly? This isn’t the way the NIL deal is suppose to go unless I am missing something. Schools themselves are not suppose to be involved per say. Texas might as well just lay out the cash to each recruit they visit.

Look I am far from nieve and understand that under the table money has been going on since the early days of CFB but Texas is openly saying “ We will get good again no matter what it cost to once again be a NC contender”. This will eventually destroy the game down the road in my opinion.

Personally I hope Texas spends all that money like they are a pro team and continues to suck.

The UT flag will soon be a rainbow colored dildo and they'll continue to suck. Suckness will accelerate for whorns. 😂

I too worry about the NIL deals. But bottomline, they'll still have to coach them up. As Sooner fans, we witnessed firsthand how Baylor's 2 & 3 stars beat our 4 & 5's. Coaching matters. Now if UT & Aggie gets some tough coaching to harden up those soft cultures and then you add that NIL funding...that's what I worry about. But if they just toss money around willy-nilly, it won't be a problem. In fact, it just enhances the softness of their program.
