but rather wait until July 21st, I decided to post this recent, wonderful article about one of my real heroes. Robert was an upper classman when we attended Del City's Kerr Jr. High together. I moved to another school district after my freshman year, so I didn't get to attend high school with him, but knew him to be a real genuine person that always treated everyone well. He was about as well liked as anyone I've ever known and a great Sooner.

Strange. I watched the Sooner Football history series again this weekend. Steve Owens and Ken Mendenhall both paid tributes to Robert. I had watched the series previously just after Memorial Day, which is the reason I posted the thread. What is there left to say that hasn't already been said about this great Sooner. His death still bothers me to this day.

Kalsu's death bothers me to this day also....as well the other 58,000-plus on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in D.C. from a conflict that never should have been.

Sorry, CT. It isn't how Robert died as much as he died so young that bothers me. Vietnam was horrible, but this thread wasn't intended to be about the war. It's about a great Sooner and someone that I like and admired.

I remember the first time I attended an OU game in Norman. The announced attendance was around 60,000. I was overwhelmed seeing so many people at one time. Losses in the war at 58,000+. It's overwhelming....

Sorry Bama, I just wanted to say that for two friends that could have been in one of those seats instead of losing their lifes........
