I was watching to Nebraska Georgia Southern game on Youtube because I didn’t watch it live. I noticed two things that will absolutely get them killed against Oklahoma and Lebby. GSU was running an Air Raid variation and was spreading out Nebraska’s defense. Nebraska decided to play them in Man coverage, which left 4 down lineman, and a MLB in the box. Lebby’s offense is designed to spread defenses out to create a light box. Look what happens when GSU gets it.

The five linemen just body up the 5 box defenders, the RB makes the safety whiff, and it’s 6. GSU did this multiple times during the game, which is why they ran for over 200 yards.

Then I noticed their man coverage. It looks like they were pressing GSU most of the game, giving up 1 on 1’s on the outside. If Lebby gets this, we have 4 to 6 receivers who can dust the Nebraska DB’s on a go ball. Nebraska’s safeties are also brand new this year, and aren’t very good. They are often late to give help over the top. On this play, the slot runs a go route against a linebacker, the outside receiver runs a stop route to keep the corner in, and the safety is a good ten yards away when the ball gets there.

All I’m saying is, if Nebraska tries this defense against OU, we are going to name our score. And considering it has been a hectic 48 hours for Nebraska after the game, I doubt their defense is going to reinvent itself before the game. Nebraska’s offense is pretty good, but their defense is trash and plays right into OU’s hands when it comes to scheme.
