Has the OU Department of Athletics ever accomplished this much nationally before?

Football. National Semifinals

Men's basketball: National Semifinals

Women's Gymnastics National Champions

Men's Gymnastics National Champions

Men's Tennis Playing Monday in the National Semifinals

And a great chance to make the final four: OU Women's Softball. I figure if they make the WCWS and get to the game that would send them to the two out of three, then that's the national semifinal. Four teams would be left. I believe they have a chance to get to the finals if they keep playing well. Have to take care of business first this weekend against ULaLa.

But they have a great chance to win at least two in OKC. Love this team.

How Parker pitches this weekend against the Cajuns will be very interesting. They have some bashers. Five home runs against A&M today. But then, A&M's pitcher threw over 400 pitches this weekend. Or was it 500? Lafayette's pitcher threw 175 in one game Sunday.

Five already in the top four nationally, including both of the two top sports in college athletics. Softball has a great chance to make it six. And a third or fourth NC would be even more spectacular.

What Power 5 Conference wouldn't want a university with these credentials? Time for Boren to take OU out of this sinking ship called the Big XII

Just found a two page thread on the premium board with a play by play, sweating out Alex Ghilea's 2-1 victory to send the Sooners to their third straight championship match. They lost in both 2014 and 15. This will be a rematch of last year's final against Virginia.

There was a big irony beating UGa in Tulsa tonight. The Bulldogs have won seven national championships, in no small part because they have hosted almost 30 national tournaments on their home court. Six of their seven came at home. Their last one was at Tulsa in 2008.

But tonight, with the home crowd advantage, the Sooners beat them 4-3. THe title match will also be in Tulsa, tomorrow night, if the weather holds up.

Seven total national titles in any sport is a pretty good record for anybody. I can't think of any sports where OU has more than seven.

And football has seven. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the gymnastics teams were to get to or pass seven in the next decade. Those coaches seem to have it goin' on.

Not more than seven, but wrestling has seven.
I had to look up the last time OU won a wrestling NC -- 1974. Unless there is a change it's going to be a while before #8. Wresting is like hockey, it's a great sport if watching in person.

I like watching both on tv actually, especially hockey. I think the biggest commonality is that both tend to be sports where the fans are really passionate about their team. But watching other teams doesn't seem to have much appeal. And the other is that winning a title is more about the endurance test of surviving a remarkable beating, and persevering.

Actually, OU has 17 NCAA recognized football national championships but we only list the 7 official championships.

But we don't count like Bama and the Domers do. When some homeboy called OU number one at the end of a season, we didn't make any claims when the polls had us ranked fifth.
