I am the parent in charge of the night time routine for our two boys which generally includes reading a story, a couple of songs, a scripture and a prayer. Six year old and two year old prayers are nothing if not genuine.
My six year old has awoken to OU football this season and now intently watches the games with me. In anticipation for tomorrow, the little man this evening prayed “and bless OU that they’ll play good defense.” I didn’t have the heart to tell him that Kansas isn’t exactly a major test of faith, and frankly I think they should take all the help they can get.
Also, there’s a distinct possibility that he asked for this blessing not for OU’s sake, but to hopefully avoid me cussing out the TV as Tre Norwood plays 10 yards off the line and then watches as the wideout blows by him, perhaps even tripping in the process.
