A few thoughts here:
Josh M: “hard for me to believe Bill Bedenbaugh is calling these run schemes”
Gabe Ikard: “what is going on with these schemes ?”
This would lead one to believe that the OL coach and run game coordinator is having less input than perhaps he should have….. Gabe Ikard loves him some BB …. his criticism combined with Josh’s observation/insight give some clues to the crux of the problem.
I’m no coach, but I know the difference between zone and G/T counter …. I also believe that zone scheme would help the OL and the run game tremendously and, help get the offense on track.
Staff duties/responsibility issues are a constant and everyone has them….. they have vexed this staff/team all year - they’ve been jinky and out of rhythm (except in fits and spurts) the entire season.
Personnel: I’m interested in IF Marvin Jones Jr. picks someone other than OU - will they double back to Texarkana, TX OLB (Brown) currently committed to Texas ?
Personnel: interesting to go from 3 WR commitments to 1 …. It looks like the Portal is the direction they go - that DOES look wise at this point with names like: Johnson(TCU), Bunkley (Arizona St), Bryant(USC)and a couple other 2020 offers.
Personnel: OL …. Portal again, 2020 offers Monheim (USC), and Hatchett(UW) - but damnit, you’ve got to close on this Campbell kid in Arlington.
Personnel: TE/H back ….. obvious to me that Stogner is underperforming (for whatever reason) and the pre-season loss of Mikey Henderson has especially hurt….. as much as LR uses that position for mismatches and OU’s problems with short yardage …… finding someone to adequately fill this spot is imperative.
Baylor: Just as Stoops needed Briles to wake him up a bit….. Arranda may be doing that to Linc - Rhule and Campbell’s teams have been physical but not MORE so….. Briles teams (for 2 years or so) were more physical - I’d say this is more attitude than ability ….. but I’m not ruling anything out - as I’ve said THINK … don’t EMOTE ….. that’s what Texas fans and women do.
This place reminds me at times of Orwell’s 1984…… you need an Emmanuel Goldstein to vent your daily 3 minutes of hate.
The Team is somewhat reflective of the fans… you expect to win - like, it’s PlayStation and we will win by 35…. and I can leave in the 3rd Q.
Something refreshing about the Baylor’s of the world is…… beating OU is like winning the Super Bowl - I was present for the RG 3 game… the way those people acted…. They were like Special Olympics participants at the finish line - I ****ing hated to lose, but you had to be happy for those poor bastards…… point is enjoy what you have, soak it in (expect greatness…. It’s part of what makes this thing unique and, therefore special)….. but appreciate winning.
Lastly - using Baylor as my canvas …. I call your attention to the 2015 game in Waco….OU beat AND beat up Baylor…..
OU had 3 or 4 personal foul penalties in the first half (Matt Dimon …. lol, good job man !).
But it set A TONE……
That impression needs to be made again.
