A High School Football Field Somewhere
UPDATE: 7:53p - Oklahoma sent the house to see Rivals250 offensive tackle Jauan Williams with Bill Bedenbaugh, Lincoln Riley, and Dennis Simmons. I'll have some more on him in tomorrow's daily notes.

UPDATE: 7:50p -
I have just been able to confirm that Sachse, Texas four-star cornerback Jared Mayden will be visiting Oklahoma officially this weekend. Looking for more on it but add another official visit to Oklahoma's weekend list.

It's pretty interesting to consider that it's his final available official visit so if he does in fact take it you have to think Oklahoma is in good shape.

This feels like a situation where they are making sure they are covered if the Cobb situation, covered below, goes badly that Oklahoma will have a chance to land another elite corner.

I think there is a chance they'd take both but I'm guessing they have too many other needs - linebacker, etc.to make those numbers work.

UPDATE: 1:22p -
Oklahoma has made the cut for Scranton (Pa.) Lackwanna C.C. linebacker offer Kapri Doucet.

UPDATE: 12:07p -
Just talked to a source who told me that while Parrish Cobb is some cause for concern for Oklahoma it's not the school that many have been focused on. It sounds like Texas may be on the outside looking in of his pursuit. I even heard so far as 'Texas is out' though I'm not sure I'm ready to completely believe that considering the Longhorns were in-home late last week.

Regardless though it feels like Texas isn't the most likely choice with rumors going around of Cobb setting an official visit to Texas A&M on Jan. 29 (I've not been able to confirm this).

But the school I've heard in the last few hours?

TCU.

The Horned Frogs have been pursuing him for quite some time, much longer than their in-state brethren and that may hold some weight.

Again though his relationship with Kerry Cooks is very good and I continue to get the feeling folks around Norman are confident in holding onto him.

UPDATE: 7:15a -
Talked briefly with Velus Jones about his visit to USC this weekend and though he didn't have a ton to say he did tell me the visit was 'great' but again he didn't have a ton to say as he got home late, late last night.

I've not heard a lot from the USC side of things but can tell you I've heard NOTHING that says he has changed his stance - which had me betting on Oklahoma.

ORIGINAL:
I've got a few things to start off with this morning...

*First, Oklahoma will be by to see Euless (Texas) Trinity Rivals250 defensive tackle Chris Daniels tonight to perhaps slow some of the momentum of other programs - notably Texas. I am working to find out exactly who will be at the in-home though you can be certain Diron Reynolds will be there.

*Secondly, I talked to a source with good knowledge of the situation and it seems that Kansas is still guessing what is going to happen with Amani Bledsoe so it doesn't seem he has tipped his hand or given anything away about his decision to the hometown squad. It's not a huge surprise as the guy keeps EVERYTHING close to the vest.

I really think everyone 'thinks' they know but most would admit they definitely do not.

*Finally I talked with Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll four-star offensive tackle Jauan Williams about where he was with Oklahoma. I'd heard some chatter that he may have set his offiicial visit but he told me 'not yet' when asked.

It sounds like he is seriously considering taking an official visit to Norman but is 'still deciding' whether or not he will. I think Oklahoma in the end probably does get a visit, that last weekend before National Signing Day, but against most everyone is betting HEAVILY on Florida State and from all I've heard there is good reason for it.
