As much complaining as the board throws at the mods, and in the Holiday spirit, I hereby move to officially make December 21st (who doesn't love a good palindrome?!) Mod Appreciation Day--hereafter appropriately referred to as MAD.
@Carey Murdock - If Josh is the fuel that keeps the SS engine rolling, Carey is no doubt the necessary oil that allows it to roll at all. Carey's taking on of most of the behind-the-scenes stuff--getting sponsors, publishing podcasts, getting office space ready, being Eddie's handler, etc.--that is essential for the SS business to keep going--and, thus, keep our pathetic selves entertained--but goes unnoticed/unappreciated by we villagers, is essential to how awesome this place is.
@Josh_M - If there is one job NO ONE ON THIS BOARD wants, it's Josh's--PERPETUAL expectations for 24/7/365 board engagement, PERPETUAL demands by the board to tell us about EVERY conversation he's had with EVERY recruit/source he's spoken with, having to spend the time/energy to contact/visit all the recruits/sources we demand information about, having his journalistic integrity questioned despite DECADES of refusing to cave to the masses before verifying what he reports, etc.. And as a recruiting guru I'm sure he's having to spend a bunch of time on--GASP!!!--OTHER recruiting websites, and pretend they actually exist. (delusional fanbases EVERYWHERE!!!)
@Eddie_Rado - The man behind the camera, "the people's mod," brings us S&S that make surround sound feel incomplete. Outside of videography, S&S, bringing Carey & Josh to the brink of unemployment on nearly every pod, and hiding in bushes and at bus stops to bring us an inside view of lifestyles of the Rich & Spineless (assistant coaches not included in the latter), no one on here really knows what Eddie does on a daily basis--likely not even Carey or Josh--but our boards, pods, and SS wouldn't be complete without the unfiltered relatability of Edward B. Rad. (we're assuming that's your middle initial until you officially change it to that)
@BPrzybylo - The jack of all trades, writer of most articles, and the calm amongst the storm the other three mods create--well, okay, we villagers technically create them, but in our defense we're generally yelling at Josh or Carey and/or yelling at Eddie to carry out our frustrations for us and risk 30 to Life. But many of us were with Bob at ESPN & Scout before he got thrown in to the lion's den here at SS. But gracefully and graciously as always, Bob didn't miss a beat and quickly got to writing awesome articles, covering basketball (the envy of no OU beat writer), giving great insights into the football team, continuing to cover some recruiting (forever in Josh's shadow; don't leave us TBOW, err, Bobby P.), and politely interacting with we violently unpolite villagers.
Mods, in all seriousness, thank you for all your hard work, the insanely long & unpredictable hours you put in, your above & beyond board engagement sprinkled about over a variety of topics/threads/posts/opinions (however baseless they may be), and, most impressively of all, putting up with EVERY STINKING ONE OF WE DELUSIONAL, UNREASONABLE, ILLOGICAL, ENTITLED, ANGRY, MEAN, AND PERPETUALLY DEMANDING villagers. From the bottom of our cold, jaded, self-absorbed hearts, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
In honor of your service and your provision of lives to we otherwise lifeless board members, I move to hereby make 12/21 celebrated like MAD--Mod Appreciation Day--every year hereafter to show our gratitude for all that you do and that we can't thank you enough for--and, frankly, never otherwise thank you at all for.
