glad to see a few more fans out to see a very important game....this is a really good OU basketball team.

Excellent perseverance tonight and now blowing out the Cyclones for a likely 5th straight win and 2nd place position in the Big 12.

Boomer.

Real nice home win for OU. After looking like they were going to get run out of Lloyd Noble in the first, OU played lights out the rest of the way. Great home win against a very good ISU team. Sooners are on a roll!

nice...post often when it makes sense....

OU played a great game tonight. Ironically one of the most interesting stats of this game was that OU did not even shoot a free throw until with a little over 6 minutes left in the game. I am not sure I have seen that happen in a very long time in any basketball game. These refs for the most part let these kids play some good physical basketball.

At the beginning when ISU seemed to hit every 3 point try 8/11 to begin the game and OU fell behind by 10 I thought to myself someone has to get out there and force them to go inside. Luckily OU started hitting the 3's themselves. Both teams showed that they can shoot the 3's very well.

ISU finished 14/28 from the 3 point arch while OU was 11/23. This may have been the most complete game I have seen this year from this Sooner team. I miss most games due to my work schedule so every time I get the chance to watch them I do.

The 2nd half was a complete game, our defense failed to show up for most of the 1st half. I don't mind a team hitting shot after shot, if someone is in their face, but ISU was getting wide open shots early and often in the 1st. Finally, with about 4 or 5 minutes to go, OU started to play defense and tied it up at the half. Not sure how much that is on the players not playing hard defensively or Lon Kruger making adjustments, either way, something started to work and in a BIG WAY.

That game had the flavor of an NBA game. Fun to watch!

Five guys with 14 or more points. 17 assists. Stellar offensive showing...but that goes without saying.

Thomas and Spangler are both getting really comfortable with their offensive roles down low. It's not just scoring and rebounds either. Their passing is leading to wide open shots.

The two biggest differences between this team and recent teams are defense and offensive slashers. All three of our starting guards can drive to the basket. So can Booker and Walker. We don't have to rely too heavily on the jump shot. Obviously, we have a few players that can knock those down too.

If they play like this from here on out, it will be a fun and long ride into the tournament.

Time for payback against the Wildcats.

The Sooners aren't playing well, but you have no chance when the refs are counting 3's after the shot clock has expired for the other team, calling phantom fouls like the one to foul Spangler out with over 8 minutes to go, and allowing one team to shoot 30 free throws more than the other. Especially on the road.

They sure did not play well, but they got ripped off!!! The refs were horrible!!!

That game was painful to watch. Those officials sucked. Plain and simple.

The discrepancy at the line was insane. Those last two fouls on Spangler were a joke.

Not only should that 3 pointer not have counted earlier in the game, but that should have been a shot clock violation before K-State (Foster) made that 3 at the end. The buzzer went off and no one had control of the ball. Should have been a tie game and OU's ball for the last shot.

Just sickening.

How can you not win when you shoot about 30 more FTs than your opponent...not to mention getting credit for a trey after the shot clock expired?

Doesn't matter, though, you have to win games in spite of the disparity in whistles and hitting more than 15% of your three point shots wouldn't hurt.

That was a home court win if there ever was one. I hope we see KState in the conference tournament.
The refs gave that game to KSU plain and simple. If an OU player even put a finger on KSU they called a foul, even if they didn't and it wasn't a single finger and KSU tossing Ryan to the floor it was a foul on Ryan. This is what makes me hate college BB. The better team gets screwed. It was plain as day to see. I realize I'm an OU fan but I've see this same thing happen and wasn't OU.

I missed the game for Valentines activities....only to wake up at 5 this AM to seek out the score. I guess I was better off the the festivities....sounds like we were screwed. I could not believe we scored in the 50's...

You've lost to them twice, home and away. Time to understand it's not a good match-up for Boomer.

I hope the loudmouth, pie-faced OU fan sitting in section 7 last night enjoyed his ride home, a loser.

Yes, 8 against 5 is a bad matchup.

I'm not a fan of fans going into someone elses gym or stadium and acting foolish. Glad I wasn't there to watch that farce last night.

Averitas, the home loss was all on us! We were up and could have closed the game out in regulation, by making free throws . We failed and they tied it up, and won it in OT. Bad on us!! Last night, was a complete farce! We could not look at them without them calling a foul. We lose by three and they are given a three, on a shot clock violation. The replays of many of the so called "fouls" showed they were absolutely ridiculous. Ryan Spangler's last two were laughable! When they are blowing their whistle one way ( or even if it had been both, but it wasn't) that many times ,there is no way you can play your game or get into any kind of rhythm going. 28 ( out of a possible 36!!!!!))))) of their points came from the free throw line, and that along with a counting the 3 pointer that should have never counted, sorta sealed the deal. I don't remember ever giving our BB team an out for refs, but last night it was blatant!!

This a million times. I can't believe the big 12 didn't notice the refs cheating. They always try and help those Kansas teams.

Well, maybe we'll get to play again this year. I love Lon. Your coaches are still very close to K-State. I wish him well the rest of the year. One of my favorite other teams. Boomer!

Therein lies the main problem wih Lon. He is a ksu wildcat. Like a typical kstater, he has never known greatness and he cowers when it looks him square in the face. Kstate chokes in the crunch time just like OU has done since lon has been at the helm. Kruger is 0-7 in OT games since he took over the job. Capel was 7-0 and he is from duke, where he learned how to win. Lon hasn't won a game this season within 10 points. His teams haven't won a tournament game yet, whether it be conference or ncaa. In all his years, lon has 1 final four. This is why you get coaches from WINNING programs, not from a bunch of losers like ksu. Lon has done a fair job putting the program on firm ground but it's time to give it to someone who can take the program to the next step. You can't rely on someone from kstate to take you somewhere none of their programs have ever been.

Everyone is blaming the refs and a phantom 3 pointer, and yes, that's all very true, but the bottom line is that OU shot really, really, really bad and you can't expect to beat anyone when you shoot that poorly.

I believe they showed a late stat where OU was shooting 8% from 3 point land? Bottom line, if OU had just made a few of those baskets, they would've won, in spite of the poor officiating.

OU shot poorly, but the foul calling completely took them out of their rythym. They couldn't go up for rebounds without getting called for a foul , and with all the whistles, there was no way they could run their offense as usual. Whatever we did it was foul and there is no way you can play like that. 28 of their points were at the charity stripe! Khadeem Lattin was called for four in six minutes, and once was he was not even near the play. It was the worst officiating ever, and for them to have been within the 3 that should not have counted, was a miracle in my opinion!! They got Spangler out at the 8 minute mark on phantom fouls, and Lattin was on the bench most of the time. It would have knocked any team off their game and totally affected how they usually would approach their shot selection. They would not have shot that poorly , if not for the refs totally taking over the game!!

Fenn, thanks for the post you're spot on. Not saying foul calling isn't part of the game, but 28 points at the line tells the entire story. And not one word from the big 12 is very weird.

Thanks Mike!! Ha, I should have done better job of proofreading, as I am still furious, and even messed up our guy's names!!! The silence is deafening from the Big Twelve! But, there was a good story in the Dallas Morning News about home cooking and the controversial calls, saying the refs became as much of the story as the game. They mentioned several interesting decisions, phantom calls, 36 free throws, and almost all going KState's way! They also talked about the refs causing the game to move at a glacial pace due to the exorbitant amount of fouls called against us. We play fast and that takes us out of our game. When you are getting those kind of calls, it just has to get to you mentally, and that causes shots not to fall!! You just can't play loose or play your game!

This game could have and most likely cost OU the big 12 as KU went down tonight vrs WVU. It would have set OU and KU game up for the winning team as big 12 champion. But now OU will have to take care of business and need help.

West Virginia may be pulling us back into an opportunity to play for a share of the Big 12 championship Saturday. Up 14 at Kansas at the half.

eh..that was at home...should have never have lost our game last night. I still don't get the hand slapping on the floor and cursing at the opposing bench on the road. I like the fight?..but finish the fight and win or not start it.

Yes, we should have taken care of business! An Iowa State player, said whatever was said, totally fired them up! Which was obvious!! But, I totally agree that when Kansas got it close, West Virginia never had a chance! The refs took over and Kansas made their free throws!

Agree that the refs didn't do WVU any favors, but they didn't make WVU miss 4 of their last 6 FT's (including 2 front ends of 1/1's either. Just like OU last night, WVU's got nobody to blame but themselves.
