LR is young, has a bright offensive X and O mind, calls offensive plays very well, but he has minimal head coaching managerial skills. Like everything else, these skills have to be developed as well and over time. He has brought in Ruffin, Diaco and Beamer and probably paying them quite well. I think he was trying to develop a compensating force to counter the weaknesses of the existing defensive coaching staff. Based on the defensive ranking after 6 games, I do not see any added value in these guys or this strategy. Now, what is he going to do about Mike, Cooks and Kish along with these three extras? It appears that he has at least 6 personnel decisions to deal with and he has created some of them. He may be at a point, given his limited managerial skills, that he may not know what to do next. It may take awhile. His best move would be to hire a proven, experienced DC who knows how to surround himself with a quality position coaching staff and have him clean it up, including the usage or dismissal of the extra's he brought in. So the situation right now is more than MIke, and he may be trying to solve all the issues. He needs to focus and solve one problem at a time.
