Toward the end of the 3rd quarter, I found out from my mother that my father had suffered a heart attack and was in the ER. They were watching the OU game in their home (my nephew said OU was up 21-0 at the time) when he began having chest pains. My wife and I left the stadium and began the 2 hour drive back to texas.
We were on I35 between Purcell and Pauls Valley when my brother-in-law called and gave the bad news that my father had passed. It was a somber drive back as my wife sobbed and I just stared ahead in disbelief.
My father was an Army veteran, loved the USA and a great Christian man. He never missed the opportunity to shake the hand of another military veteran. He really enjoyed John Wayne movies. He loved Sooner football and is the reason I'm a die hard fan. It makes me happy that he got to see the Sooners winning before he breathed his last breath. I'll admit I'm struggling and have broken down several times. Please keep my family and myself in your prayers. God bless!!!
