Well this news really sucks. Hopefully he can land with another team, but it sounds pretty unlikely considering how his performance has really dropped off since his injuries. There was a thread on here not long ago about Broyle's living a very modest lifestyle to budget longterm with his money, and looks like that was a VERY wise move on his part since his NFL future doesn't look promising.

I'm not so sure it sucks, though you may be right. Ryan can play. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't hook up with another team. He just needs to be healthy. Maybe that takes a year. But I think living anywhere in the NFL is likely better than living in Detroit. The Packers need receivers. There will be other opportunities if he chooses to pursue them.

Good Summation, BR...It's the same Takeaway from this story as I got. If Ryan's legs are 'lost', perhaps there is a place for him in Coaching young athletes on how best to use their $$ and make it last for 'Life After Sports'. The piece on how he manages his assets went viral, and was shared all over the Internet and TV...Hopefully, someone in the financial world will see the potential he displays...Fingers Crossed for Ryan Broyles!

That is very true Plaino. I was under the impression that Broyle's was back to 100% going into this year, but it's very possibly he still isn't fully recovered. I very much hope that turns out to be the case. It certainly didn't sound very encouraging though when it mentioned he has lost his explosiveness and was having trouble getting open. But you're right the Packers may well be in a position they have to roll the dice and take him on and hope he gets better as the season progresses. Let's hope other teams look at Ryan and evaluate that he hasn't fully recovered and maybe give him a chance.

The reality is the average NFL career lasts 3 years last I looked. Hopefully he's got some more time left with someone, but if not he can always say he made it to the league. He comes off as a guy that football isn't all he has in his life. Sadly, some can't say that.

There was an article attached by headline to the linked article that said the Ryan had asked the Lions for his release. My guess is that this undrafted rookie is considered a shoe in to make the roster, and Ryan wanted an extra week to find some team to hook up with.

When you're his size, if you lose your explosiveness, that's a lot. Still, he's a smart receiver and he catches the damn ball when it's thrown to him. Guys like that can play with the right quarterback in the right offense.

I am so glad he is out of the toilet known as Detroit. Come on down to Dallas Ryan

I for one am happy to learn that Ryan has saved and invested his money wisely. Hopefully this means he can now pay for his gas.

Too soon?
