Kyler Murray wasn’t interested in OU as a recruit. He wanted to go to Texas and play football and baseball. His uncle was a star baseball player at Texas. His Dad meanwhile was a star QB at TAMU. He settled on them. He’s as big of high school legend as they come in Texas.

His early impressions were incorrect about Oklahoma when he got here. Though not elaborating it was the culture that he had heard that was troubling. I think that part of that was Schmidt and Mike. Right or wrong, justified or unjustified, correct or incorrect, fair or unfair it has haunted us in recruiting. Lincoln Riley has turned that from a negative to off the charts positive. He’s done that with hiring coaches that players absolutely want to play for. Wylie is a tremendous leader. Players and parents have flooded the offices with concerns that Ruffin won’t be a part of the program next year. He will thankfully. He’s a gem of the greatest proportions. Shane Beamer is every bit the players coach and wonderful human being that attracts recruits.

Lincoln Riley is building something special and Kyler Murray spreading that in Texas will be huge.
