Knight was a good athlete, but never a passer in HS.

Knight was a QB in a run first spread in SA. Mayfield played in a run heavy, but pass first hurry-up offense at Lake Travis. I think OU made a mistake recruiting Knight at QB, he would have been a better DB, IMO. OU needs to recruit dual threat QBs, but they must be passers first, not runners with strong throwing arms. Knight is a kid that could have played for the OSU, Oregon or Auburn spreads after a red-shirt and sitting until his junior year like Petty at Baylor. If Baker gets hurt the team will crash with Knight, he just can't operate a complicated passing attack where he has to put the ball on the money like he did that one bowl game versus Bama. If he could have put it together, he would be something with his running skills... He is a great talent that has not caught on with the forward pass.

You mean the MVP of the Sugar Bowl w/Bama?

Well, I didn't see Trevor or Baker play in high school, so I can only go with what I've seen since they've played in college. There doesn't seem to be much separating them, talent-wise, and I feel they are pretty much interchangeable at this point. But then, we've only seen Baker in a spring game and two regular season games, so it's hard for me to say one is that much better than the other.

Knight threw for 2,092 yards and 27 TDs with 3 interceptions his last year in high school....OU made no mistake recruiting him. Before this year is done, we may be very glad he's around.

It was ironic that Connor Knight played, Saturday, while Trevor watched...Total Role Reversal, but IMO, it was always Good Twin/Good Twin. From what I've heard, they are a pair of outstanding young men...

Passing QBs in Texas HS ball more than double those yards. Those are the stats of a run first team in a city that NEVER passes, if you know Texas HS football. There has not been a team win state at the 6A level in Texas ball that passes from SA or Houston in forever. SA Reagan was known for RBs and the option before Knight. He was their first QB to experiment with the forward pass. The schools that pass in SA are Tivy, where Manziel went and Alamo Heights and both are class 5A, the former 4A.

While he couldn't keep from throwing a few pick-6s, Trevor sure looked good in that Sugar Bowl. He has had a number of other games when he looked good. However, throwing a TD to the other game is a fast way to lose, such as OsU and TCU. Sad.

The Sugar Bowl has since been proven to be fools gold. Period. It's great he played to that level in that game in taking down Alabama. But outside of that game we haven't seen that kind of performance out of Trevor....before or since.

My point is not to state that Knight was a pure, elite passer in high school, just a good one with few interceptions. His Alabama game proved it, especially with Saunders, Bester and Shepard receiving and Clay running and catching on some clutch plays. Three of those players were gone last year and Shepard was injured in half the season.

Knight hurt himself because he was erratic and made dumb throws that costs games. Don't get me wrong, I think he has a lot of talent. I just don't think he can harness it enough to be the QB that we need to win a championship. I do agree though that he is a great insurance policy if need be

I'd take Paul Thompson over Knight if given the choice just because you never know who is going to show up. He might have an S on his chest or an L.

To be fair, I called for Knight to get in there at the end of the TN game and I was wrong. Mayfield has heart and I was simply wrong there hoping we'd get the Knight with an S on his chest. He does have a lot of talent, but he's too Jeckyll and Hyde.

Well hell, this thread, a clone of a dozen exactly like it before.

Just remember you august experts, if Mayfield goes down, Trevor Knight is the guy going in to replace him...best get your minds right and accept that.

Chance are huge that it will happen sooner than later.

What the hell is that even suppose to mean fitty? Seriously you sound so upset that some don't think Trevor is the QB YOU want him to be that your post almost has a tone you are hoping Baker gets hurt so you get a chance to prove everyone who doesn't agree with you wrong.

And if this thread appears to be a clone of past threads, then that's what many would call a pattern. And when there is a pattern then many times their must be some truth to it.

Trevor has never been the best QB on campus since the day Mayfield stepped foot on campus. The staff would tell you as much and said so to me on multiple occasions.

And the title of this thread is "Knight was a good athlete, but never a passer in HS".

More of that encrypted, convoluted Horn-speak that we must navigate whenever they post here.
