He'll need it. He's now with the owners that once stated that it appears the inmates are running the prison. I suspect that he'll do alright but it'll be turbulent to say the least.
Let's start with the fact that the owner who made that comment has passed away. Next, Stills will now be playing in a 7 million pop. city that is the nation's most culturally diverse, loves it's Texans, and is politically left of center. Kenny will thrive in H-town.
He won't thrive in Houston if he disrespects our country and flag by kneeling. I did not watch any dolphin games with him there and will not watch any Houston games with him there even if the Cowboys are playing them.
Let me first say this is not a political thread per se, and i do not intend to turn it into one. I just want your take on why kneeling is insulting enough that you would not watch our beloved Dallas Cowboys. We live in a free country. We often disagree with one another. But didn't men fight and die in dozens of places since The Revolution so numnuts like Stills can protest against a perceived injustice, whether we condone his methods or not? Now, do his actions piss me off? Yes, very much. I think they are wrong to protest while wearing the uniform of an organization they work for, and in a very public setting at that. Do we have the right to speak out against it? Of course. But, there was an incident recently where a teen-age kid wouldn't remove his hat during the national anthem when asked to by a war veteran. The guy beat the kid senseless. Though I do understand his flush of anger, I hope we all agree that is an extreme over-reaction, especially to a 15-year old boy. Now, in my opinion both the kid and Stills show some serious disrespect....But those "kneelers" aren't stopping me from watching my favorite team or any other team for that matter because I don't like the way he treats the symbols of our great country. I think what makes us great is that he can do that, and not get locked up or beat up or even killed by a government that feels too threatened to allow disrespect of any kind. Let's watch our Boys and ignore the protesters into irrelevancy.
My opinion is, as WNAS stated, the Dolphins forced the Texans to take him in the deal. Besides being a knee-taker, he called out his Owner about making donations to Republicans. The Dolphins knew Houston was desperate for a Left Tackle and forced KS in to the deal. I doubt KS will be a Texan very long. At least not on the active roster.

Good riddance, get off my team. Been a Dolphin fan since I was 5yrs old and I am 52. Stopped watching them and the NFL because of the kneeling.

Well if we're 'starting', let's start with the dead owner's family. It isn't a new regime in Houston by any means. The 'family' still owns the Texans. Next, Stills will now be playing in a heavily populated culturally diverse city. Like Miami wasn't. Houston is a baseball town. Always has been. Always will be. It's the main reason the Oilers are in Tennessee. The populous of Houston doesn't love the Texans, they love them some JJ Watts. A huge difference. If Stills gets politically charged in Houston, which I suspect he will, he won't be doing any HEB commercials and if he keeps his political rants up, he'll split the team. This is the only NFL team w/o a GM. The NFL season is just starting and there is a 'dead silence' of energy in Houston these days regarding the Texans. Now they added a kneeler. Look out. That'll energize them!

When I was having my time following the Oilers from 1975-1980, the Bum Phillips' years, I saw how the city went wild over that team. I sat in the Dome during the 1978 pep rally to welcome the Oilers back from their 34-5 thumping from the Steelers and I was happy to root FOR Earl Campbell those years. That was a fun team to watch, even with the silly fight song.
But on New Year's Eve 1980 my interest in the team and pro football ended abruptly and has never returned. That was the day Bum was fired because he allegedly refused to hire an offensive coordinator, which was all Bud Adams needed to purge him.
Ten years after I left Houston in 1986, the Oilers moved to Nashville when Bud Adams could not get a new stadium from the city.
No one I knew in Houston cared and like WNAS, I've always thought the Texans were the "bastard child" of Houston's sports teams.
BTW, I have read that Houston has become the most culturally diverse city in the U.S., outside of LA and SF, in the country....even more than NYC, Boston or Chicago. This is due, from what I'm told, by the exodus from the west coast and northeast to flee from "Blue State" economies. Clearly, Houston is far removed from the Houston I lived in from 1969-1986....and its climate and traffic are reasons enough to change our retirement plans.
Houston has become more "diverse" in the 26 years we have been here.
That diversity cost Republicans heavily in the last election. Dems voted straight ticket ballots and nearly every judge in "Houston" is now a Democrat.
Even County Judge Ed Emmett (Just learned that County Judge is actually like the Mayor of a County, not an actual judicial judge), who who was extremely well-liked and has led Houston through many natural disasters, lost his job. After the elections, most Dems interviewed said they didn't realize he was not a Democrat and they would have voted for him, had they known.
The County Judge is now a 28 year-old, inexperienced Judge.
There is enough Texas real estate to keep Texas Republican for the time being.
But the growing diversity in Houston, San Antonio, Austin is making the margin much slimmer than ever before.
Not to mention that there are crossings at the Texas/Mexico border by the thousands weekly now.
