From his father and family:
"The past 2 years with the Oklahoma Sooners has been a great experience, however after my injury last season I never fully recovered. Since that time I have had a chance to evaluate my role at OU with my family and have decided it is time to start a new chapter. Despite what the suspension was about I am currently academically eligible to transfer according NCAA rules to another university and have been given a full release by OU. I would like to thank Coach (Bob) Stoops and Coach (Cale) Gundy for all of their support and I wish the Sooners the best of luck next season." Keith Ford II
Keith Ford was a 5 star recruit in the 2013 class and number 3 running back in the country rated by ESPN 150, and number 5 by Rivals. He started the first three games of the 2014 and was the leading rusher in the Big 12 before his injury. He remained out of competition for 5 games and returned but continued to be challenged with his return to the field. During the 2015 spring semester he was indefinitely suspended for Academic and violation of team rules. His parents spoke out to clarify the intent of the suspension which highlighted it was a result of attendance issues with missing planned academic sessions and team meetings.
