Karma's Timing is Pretty Kool...

We have some significant athleticism a CB. Jordan, Mbansor, Quick, Cobb, Austin, Taylor. There has to be 1 out of those latter 5 that's a star. Probably deepest CB crew we've had.

Never wanting to be critical of our players, but I'm not sure that looking at two guys that have never played on the football field in that position can be called quality depth yet.

Quick was a WR last year, and Cobb will be a true freshman.

I like their potential, but when I think depth, I think proven depth.

I wrote this before I read about Thomas' possible dismissal.
Mbansor, Taylor and Austin have all seen considerable field time. Quick will be an upperclassman although new to the position, but I believe he played DB in high school.

CTOkie, I wasn't aware that Quick is gone. A quick internet search turns up nothing. What do you got?

My mistake. I may have confused Quick with another player who left the team....or forgot he might be moved to the secondary.
There was something I found, written in March, revealing he was working hard to be a better WR. I think he may be more valuable as a WR....especially if Jordan Thomas is still on the team.

I thought Dakota Austin did an outstanding job last year covering for Zach Thomas when he was out for a couple of games. If he has a good summer, then I would expect to see him in a starter position when the season starts. Mbanasor may still be a work in progress. I do recall one game - Tulsa? - where he was torched repeatedly by a long-lanky receiver that day, so he may have some ground to make up if he is to see significant playing time in the fall.

Seems like we're long on talent, but short on experience where our DBs are concerned, especially since Thomas's participation is unknown at this time. Personally, after three incidents, I'm not counting on him coming back.

I would be very surprised.....and disappointed....if Mbanasor does not turn out to be a very good player from here on.

I agree. I thought I read something that he's been turning the corner since Bowl and Spring Practices.
