The ESPN folks were debating OU - Utah and Palmer just said Utah had a better OOC schedule and said they get the edge.

BYU, No Ill , Idaho St.

Better - not a chance more like about the same I would say.

The issue isn't non conference schedule. I think he's saying that their conference is tougher. Yet they played nobody ranked in the top 25 that they could beat. They'll get that if they beat Oregon, but their green opponent is ranked below OUrs. They don't get credit for where Oregon was ranked a month ago.

The talking heads really want Utah in for some reason or they just want someone from the Pac 12 to be in it. I think if there was another Pac 12 team sitting at 5 they would still be saying the same thing and pushing their agenda.

I must admit I was shocked OSU came in at 25 and really thought KSU at 8-4 would crack the top 25. OU just needs to mud-hole BU Saturday and hope that is enough if Utah beats Oregon. Once again though the committee seems to weigh only what they want to weigh each week and ignore the data when comparing teams.

Then the talking heads saying Clemson is in even with a loss is nothing more than kissing Dabos whining ass lately.

Q: What was the separation between OSU, LSU and Clemson?

Mullens: Wins against top 25 teams (. Translated to shorten his answer)

Q: What was the deciding factor between OU, Utah and Baylor?

Mullens: The EYE TEST!!! ( Again translated but no mention of wins against ranked teams).

Yep this Committee moves the goalpost depending on the teams they are discussing. I wonder if they even realize Mullens answers make them all look like hypocrites in how they determine rankings.

Utah is a sympathy rankings due to the Pac never getting in, there is no other reason, the metrics they showed all favored OU and Baylor.....
The Pac has actually been in twice. In the first one, Oregon won the semi and lost in the semi's, then lost to Ohio State in the final, 42-20. That was the 2014 season.

Washington lost to Alabama 24-7 in 2016 in the semifinals.

Spot on! Mullens mentioned that the difference in the Top 3 with their records being equal was SOS and quality wins, but never mentioned these when comparing OU, Baylor and Utah yet their records are the same?! Shouldn’t they be consistent? If they were it would be OU 5, Baylor 6 and Utah 7. Complete joke they are!

Oh and how is KSU not in the Top 25?!

Everyone knows the committee is a joke and the talking heads are even a bigger joke. On my way to work this morning on ESPiN radio they were comparing OU - Utah. The so called expert said Utah should go since they have dominated everyone since the the USC lost while OU struggled with KSU, ISU and Baylor. He went on to then say because Utah had 6-7 future NFL defensive players on the team that should play a roll also compared to OU. Never once did he mention quality wins as if those just don’t matter to these idiots who are pushing so hard for Utah.

Its getting to the point where I almost want UGA to beat LSU if Utah wins Friday night to also keep them out if we win over Baylor. I just don’t think our game result will matter at all if Utah wins Friday night no matter how much we win by. To bad if all that happens due to Bowl tie-ins that they couldn’t match up OU-Utah in a bowl to settle the debate on the field. I really dislike the current tie-ins anyway as those NY6 bowls should match up teams by rankings in them. IE: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 etc.

We may be zeroing in on a problem here. :)

I am not sure how much influence that network actually has with the committee but they are far from being objective in their arguments on air. The remedy to all of this human selection BS is to get rid of them all together and create a true playoff system where conference champions are rewarded on the field and not in a closed door session
