Is this why Kish is not a successful recruiter?

So I was reading the Scoop today and ran across this quote...

"One player who did pick up an offer this week is Kennedale, Texas four-star linebacker Baron Browning. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound star is a player most expect to become one of the Lone Star State’s top linebacker offers.

Oklahoma may have been an offer he was waiting on but when it happened he hads an interesting reaction that Tim Kish couldn’t help but notice.

“At this point, I know how to handle this. (Kish) was saying, ‘I’m glad you aren’t one of those guys that gets too excited’, it is what it is I guess you could say,” Browning said.

“I liked him, he is real cool, real laid back guy – pretty laid back, just a nice cool guy. I enjoyed talking to him.”

Now I've been selling for 20+ years and I can say that the folks who don't get very excited typically don't buy. In my mind one of the primary responsibilities of recruiters is to get guys 'fired-up' about the university - you know "paint the mental picture" for them so top recruits are wanting to be at OU.

My experience is when the seller is reinforcing a buyer's complacency then the potential of a deal being struck declines substantially.

Just my thoughts, what say you?
