I won't debate that fans in the Big XII are way more invested in football (outside of Lawrence and Ames), but I will throw at there that top to bottom, the Big XII is a stronger basketball conference than football right now. As of Thursday night, I can say there is no "elite" football team in the conference, but there are at least 3 contenders in basketball: OU, KU, Iowa St. There are some other decent programs as well: UT, KSt, BU. I will support and watch all OU athletics, but personally I'd burn Lloyd Noble down myself to be on Alabama's level in football.
