With the way things are going down, is is not glaringly obvious that changes need to be made regarding our football future? Is it time for people to flood Joe C, Wallflower, etc. and let them know our thoughts? I pray our boosters with some influence can see the writing is on the wall. We just finished 4th in our own conference in recruiting and getting beat by BU and TCU- whom we have legitimized by being in this conference.
OU is being spurned by even our best in state players and legacy's now days. Point blank, players don't care about OU's history as much as they view their long term future and who can put them in the NFL. The stats prove the the SEC is the "it" conference and the dream destination for these players. They recruit at a level that is almost unfair, and before anyone screams that they cheat, I am sure it does occur, the numbers simply are in their favor now. They can sell that to any recruit and it's almost just a foregone conclusion that it's basically just a stepping stone to get to the NFL, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
OU could have been and needs to be a part of that and would be a perfect fit. I get so sick of hearing about how Wallflower wants us to be in the Big 10 so we can be an academic school. We are a football school and that is the ONLY thing people around this country and world know about OU for the most part. That is slipping away from us and it needs to be understood that football basically feeds the University. Boren, when football declines at OU, so will the academics and money generated from it. It also very much affects the city of Norman from a business perspective.
We need to be in the SEC and as soon as possible. We are losing out on getting people to this program and this conference is going to die or perhaps hang on for a few years on life support. If we want excitement back in the program, recruits to come here like we used to get, we need to get to the SEC. It will be a night and day difference and we will wonder why we ever stayed as long as we did as well as standing by UT all this time. We need our leaders to do some serious soul searching and perhaps a push to get rid of Wallflower needs to be in short order in the very near future. Look forward to your thoughts.
