Is Baker Mayfield a junior or senior

Senior.

TT as a Freshman
could not compete as a Sophmore due to transfer
OU as a Junior
OU as a Senior

They are saying that is a big 12 ruling but he could play 2017 in another conference. Sounds like his chances to play at OU may change after big 12 meeting. The one I read wasn't a yahoo link either. Fingers crossed

So Baker could play for the Sooners in 2016 and then play next season in another conference??? Wow! I guess the year he sat out at OU would be considered his red shirt year?

From what I've read, his dad will be appealing that, maybe in court. But I think the rulings at the NCAA level are complete. They said they had no authority to override a Big XII Conference ruling.

Uh huh.

He can Yep. Strange as it is. He lost a year of eligibility in the Big 12 but not College Football. He can go play his 4th year elsewhere. But I don't think the Big12 has the balls to let him go elsewhere. If they do, OU needs to seriously walk & start the negotiations with other conferences.

I would rather Baker be allowed to play for OU in 2017, but if not, I wouldn't have an issue in him being permitted to play in another conference. He deserves it. Russell Wilson did very well using his eligible year after he had graduated when he played at Wisconsin his last year. If Baker wants to play pro ball this may be a big plus for him money wise. The B12 will be making a big mistake if that happens.

Now I read that a professor from each school will vote. I never thought about the academic reasons. Costing a year of education is wrong.

I think the Big12 showed support to a Big 12 HC. Next week, it'll be on them. I think they let him play. But if he goes to the NFL, I hope he somehow lands at Dallas. :)

I just wonder how it would impact future commitments at the QB position if he's granted the year of eligibility he lost. Hopefully, not at all.

Wish you'd been right, but you weren't. They needed a simple majority vote for the rule to pass, & it was 5-5.

He is a senior.

Or a Junior...if he ends up at FSU, Bama, etc. in 2017. Can us and UT join the Pac-12 already and wipe our feet of this petty, pissant conference? Screw the Pokes, they can go join the WAC or whatever. I don't care.

If Baker has an opportunity to play in another conference in 2017, I'd put my money on the SEC and Texas A&M. Wouldn't that be rich. Trevor in 2016 and Baker in 2017!

It is going to be a bloodbath in Lubbock come November. BM will have to medicated to calm him down. I won't be surprised if BM gets in KK's grill on the Tech sideline.
Why blame Tech ? Wouldn't OU or any other school do the same if the situation was reversed ?
In the years OU has had Stoops, there's rarely been a dramatic drop-off in talent at the quarterback position.....Nate Hypl and Paul Thompson followed two good QBs in Josh Heupel and Rhett Bomar.....Landry Jones followed Bradford (one year prematurely) and was followed by Knight and Bell in 2013-2014. Only in 2014, when OU featured a piss poor defense, was the mediocre quarterbacking situation apparent....and after Knight's "Cinderella" game in the Sugar Bowl, no one could have seen Knight's regression.
Kendall and Murray should be very good and I believe 2017 Roberson will be very good as well. I think OU has done well reloading and being proactive at QB.
My biggest concern now, with Knight's departure, is how well Mayfield does injury-wise and how quickly Kendell develops this season. Kendell really needs to be good enough to replace Mayfield and that may be asking a lot.
