In the Fearless 20 thread someone asked anyone (and I, of course, took on the challenge) to compare the OL situations heading into Tennessee as compared to a few other big OOC battles of recent years.

Pretty crazy, and I'd have to go back to probably, what, 2005(?) to think of the last time Oklahoma was this inexperienced on the offensive line.

Against Notre Dame: in 2013 LT - Tyrus Thompson (RS-JR) (6 starts, 19 games), LG - Adam Shead (RS-JR) (18/22), C - Gabe Ikard (RS-SR) (38/40), RG - Nila Kasitati (RS-SO) (1/5), RT - Darryl Williams (RS-JR) (12/20)

Average: 15 starts and 21.2 games played

Against Florida State in 2011: LT - Donald Stephnenson (RS-SR) (11 starts, 22 games), LG - Gabe Ikard (RS-SO) (13/15), C - Ben Habern (RS-JR) (25/39), RG - Tyler Evans (RS-JR) 17/26, RT - Lane Johnson (RS-JR) (1/1)

Average: 13.4 starts and 20.4 games played

Projected starting OL against TN, assuming they start game one (St. John (1 starts, 9 games), Alvarez (1/2), Darlington (17/25), Kasitati (13/29), Farniok (1/27)

Average: 8.6 starts and 18.4 games played.

The discrepancies become even more notable when you take out the high and low man. Which, of course, gives an idea of how much the unit has played together, even beyond what we all know to be true.

So the three true middle guys:

ND in 2013: 12 starts and 23.66 games played
FSU in 2011: 13.66 starts and 21 games played
OU's expected OL @ TN in 2015: 5 starts and 21.66 games played
