In Cali, number 1 Mater Dei led number 2 John Bosco 28-5 in the first half. But John Bosco scored 34 straight and beat national number 1 Mater Dei 39-34. Bryce Young, the Mater Dei quarterback has been highly recruited by most elite college football teams, including OU, but at the present time is committed to USC. John Bosco lost to MD earlier in the year. They were also a national top ten team.

In south Texas, Post and Hawley are ranked in the top 10 in Class 2A. They face each other in the Division 1 regional finals this week. They used an original formula to determine which team would get to play at home in the fourth round playoff game. If the result of the LSU-Texas A&M game had a combined score of an even number, then Hawley would get to host the game. If an odd number, the Post would be the home team.

Since the final was 50-7, Post is the home team. In the old days, coaches flipped a coin for such decisions. Then it has evolved into a game where one coach pics a small town with one zip code. One coach picks the code and the other coach chooses even or odd. But in this case, the coaches decided to let the game score decide, rather than argue about which choice each would have.

No neutral sites, this time.

I thought that might have changed. I sort of remember that. It was late and I was too lazy too look it up. I think that often, the quarterbacks at the powerhouse high schools look a bit better than they are, because there are so many studs around them that they'll always look great. Or at least almost always, except when they play another powerhouse school. I'm sure he'll be great at Bama.
