Indy held tosu/barrett to 3 on 1st possession

Ohio State is really young, but they have some players. I look at the three great true freshman from Texas alone. All three were guys we really wanted: Okudah, Browning and Dobbins. Dobbins is playing pretty well.

Impressed with their overall speed. Their D-line is exceptional. Corners actually played well but IU QB was channeling Trevor vs Tide. The LOS will be a war. We are the underdog but I think We can play with them. Dobbins looked good and he's their #2 RB. Urban really knows how to recruit that slot/wing position...Harvin, Samuel, now new guy who's name escapes me.

I think OU's chances against Ohio State are now no worse than 50-50.
If for some reason this team struggles and looks sloppy tomorrow, which I doubt, then I will be concerned.

This.

Much like, I think, every contender this season, there are legitimate flaws.

The oline needs to break even with their dline and Baker needs to be the better QB and we win.

The way the Buckeyes DB played...Baker should pick them apart. The edges were largely uncovered by their corners and their LBs don't appear to be anything exceptional. OL will need to be in max overdrive though. The Buckeye DL is the obvious strength.

Paris Campbell. He's played the last couple of years but has been physically developing. Was always real fast, but he graduated high school at 16 and was only 17 years old as a freshman.

It was a tough draw for a set of DBs with three new starters. Indy's quick passing game in the first half played to their advantage as OSU was playing man, but conservative in their spacing. They defense adjusted.

Interesting on your assessment of the OSU linebackers. The NFL scouts tend to disagree. I don't know how the game will play out next week. I expect a good game and wouldn't be surprised with either team winning. I do remember many Oklahoma fans being pretty confident last season as well.

Tom Allen, the IU head coach, appears to be no joke. Not surprised that he was able to slow down the Ohio State offense for a half. Players just ran out of steam.

He got burned once a well thrown TD he still could have made a play on, but tOSU's CB #12 Denzel Ward otherwise defended passes all night long. I would not target against him.

tOSU Offensively, we just need to shadow Barrett and focus on shutting down their running game. They won't be beating any quality teams through the air (Barrett's passing yardage was all YAC on crossing routes).

1st half IU hit timing routes and back shoulder throws which got the ball out of the QB's hands quick and he was throwing on a dime (then the adrenaline wore off in the 2nd half and he reverted to who he was). Despite that reality....

Herbstreit still can't hide his true colors and was an an obvious apologist for the Buckeyes and their #2 ranking. He actually said both of these things:
1. The Buckeyes won't face a better combination of QB and WRs - including Oklahoma - all year long (IU's juco QB had a Clint Longley-like first half, but this is a guy who threw more picks than TDs last year; they did have a LSU WR transfer who looked solid...but c'mon).
2. The Buckeyes did not go out and schedule a MAC conference team for its opener (as if this was on a Bama/FSU magnitude; and most years Indiana couldn't win the MAC).

Corso is rubbing off on him.

Great post Phaed; fify...
