This thread has been updated for more clarity and some new important information from the original post. Read the entire post for the updates. It is lengthy, but will give persons complete information about the Cotton Bowl tickets situation. If you or friends still hope to attend, tips are given to help you hopefully attend and save on costs for tickets.

According to the OU Ticket Office in a phone call Tuesday morning, the Cotton Bowl tickets sold out very quickly on Monday. The process of allocating seat locations is now underway, based upon Sooner Club guidelines.

According to the OU ticket office representative, persons will not be informed of seat locations well in advance. On Dec. 28, an email will be sent with download information to view tickets on one's mobile device to find your seat locations. Feel free to verify this information for yourself. OU hopefully will send out this information in advance.

If one ordered 6 tickets, one may get a group of 4 and a group of 2. The reason is that there are various sizes of ticket group "pods" available due to the social distancing safety protocols that have been refined all season at AT&T Stadium for Dallas Cowboys games. If one ordered 4, one may get 2 groups of 2. Your multiple groups of seats may not be near each other in the same section, or even in the same section. This is new for the Ticket Office and will take a long time to go through the process. The great majority of seating is in the fourth level at AT&T Stadium, according to the OU ticket office representative.

According to another poster who got information from the Ticket Office, 1700 tickets were made available for distribution to Season Ticket Holders. I confirmed that information with the OU Ticket Office this morning. Perhaps someone reading this thread can also confirm this. The Cotton Bowl sent an allotment of 3500 tickets to OU, confirmed by the Cotton Bowl. So OU is also in the process of determining seat locations for the 1800 tickets distributed to likely among a group of university officials, corporate sponsors, athletics department personnel, football players and coaches for their families.

OU also got a discount on the various prices from the Cotton Bowl. The Cotton Bowl normally sells the various locations at a higher price than what OU paid. Example $150 vs $110 for 4th level seats.

If you could not get tickets through OU, please read my 2 other posts with valuable information about the regular face value prices for various sections, seat locations and description of views. Also presented is information to help you find tickets at a lower cost through the secondary ticket marketplace websites where tickets are resold.
At the time of this post, there appear to be less than 2,000 actual tickets available, many of which are listed multiple times simultaneously on several secondary ticket marketplace websites. This is confirmed by thorough research, which you can also do to verify.

I am a 32 year season ticket holder for the Cotton Bowl and offer my insights to help you based upon all those years' experience with this game. I have helped many friends attend other Cotton Bowls in the past. I secured my 4 tickets early, as season ticket holders got to order their tickets early, based upon priority for number of consecutive years of ordering tickets. I am looking forward to seeing OU in the Cotton Bowl, a great historical, prestigious, and fun bowl game. It is a great tradition for many families each New Year Season who attend each year.

Read the other 2 threads I posted about the Cotton Bowl tickets, (one of them has had over 3,000 views) and great feedback from readers.

You will find out tips for how to search for tickets, and how the exact same specific groups of seats are listed simultaneously on several ticket marketplace websites at different prices. Those guidelines will help you search for tickets and hopefully save you on your costs.

You will find groups of 2 listed at higher prices. This is due to the fact that there are not that many groups of 2 available.

You can find groups of 6 in many locations for better tickets on the secondary ticket marketplace. If you can put together a group of six, then look for those tickets. You can save costs by putting a group together, rather than having each person purchase 2 tickets.

Groups of 5 and 7 do exist, but there are few. These are not listed as duplicates on StubHub, but may be listed simultaneously on other secondary ticket marketplace websites.

Look at TICKET EXCHANGE by Ticketmaster
, ticketexchangebyticketmaster.com
Search "Goodyear Cotton Bowl"

sells resale tickets by fans who are offering them for resale. This is the "Official" ticket marketplace for the Cotton Bowl, contracted with the Cotton Bowl. Ticketmaster manages all Cotton Bowl tickets for the Cotton Bowl. One can often find lower costs on Ticket Exchange, as they also charge a lower add-on charge of 5%-10% less compared to other secondary ticket market resale websites. Also, many listings are "Instant." This means shortly after purchase, one receives an email with instructions to download.

On other websites, one has to wait for the seller to send the email to you, which could be delayed, even until a day or two before the game. Many fans resell their tickets on Ticket Exchange. One needs to enroll with Ticketmaster, but there is no fee to enroll.

The multiple listings on several secondary ticket marketplace websites simultaneously for the exact same group of tickets makes it appear that there are several thousand tickets, which is not the case. Do the comparisons among websites yourself, following the guidelines I posted in the other thread. As of today,
there are less than 2,000 actual specific groups of tickets listed.

Even on StubHub, there are tickets listed that do not exist. For example, a person may list on StubHub 4 groups of 4 on a certain Row in a specific Section at different prices. However, due to social distancing, groups of seat "pods" are separated by blocked seats. In many sections, there are only 20 seats in a row. There cannot be 4 groups of 4 due to this separation for safety. I have a chart for AT&T Stadium that shows the location of the blocked seats in each Section, so I have researched StubHub to determine the multiple listings for the same Row. There are many more tickets listed on StubHub than actually exist.

Another trick by ticket brokers on StubHub and other websites is to list tickets on a higher row in a section at a higher price. They list the same specific group of tickets location on a lower row at a lower price. Or they list the non-existent tickets on the higher row at a lower price, and the real tickets on a lower row at a higher price. If one orders the tickets on the higher row, the seller delivers the actual seats on the lower row. This fulfills their contract with the secondary ticket marketplace website through which you bought your tickets to deliver to you the exact same tickets, or comparable. You are getting a lower row, so this satisfies the rules for the ticket website and their guarantee to you to deliver exact tickets, or comparable.

Many exact same ticket groups are listed on multiple secondary ticket marketplace websites simultaneously, but not all. Some are just listed on one website. One will need to do one's own comparisons.

When doing price comparisons among websites, be sure to calculate the add-on fees to determine the lower costs.

Read other important information about this on my other threads for more details and insights for searching for tickets.

I also provide information about the best parking close to the stadium and the best tailgating locations. I further provide important information about rules of the stadium for entrance. I also give advise on how to provide yourself with insurance to still be granted admission if you have a problem displaying your mobile tickets at stadium entrance and cannot be granted entrance. This is rare, but sometimes does happen.

Hopefully, you will be helped by all this information and get tickets.
Have a Happy and safe holiday season with your family and friends.

God Bless you and your family.
