I wonder if Mike Stoops Is not very good at recruiting 4 & 5

When I read reports of recruit quotes after a visit, there is often information about how a specific recruit praised Mike for whatever he liked about him.

You're not going to win as many as you lose for recruits from other states. And instate, there aren't enough quality guys where we'd have the advantage. When you're after elite studs, you have a lot to overcome if they're from Florida or Cali or even Texas. I think it's a lot less about the coach personality and a lot more about the school proximity and player relationships. And in recruiting of elite guys, it might often be about who gets the "best deal."

It's not called the $EC for nothin.

I wouldn't place blame on Mike or for that matter any of the coaches. Mike could sign 4-5 stars if he was at Ohio State. And, he can sign 4-5 star recruits at OU for the defensive secondary. He routinely signs 4 star DBs. Not a whole lot of 5 star DBs available.

Maybe he doesn't relate very well with the younger generation.

OU tosses out offers like crazy to 4 & 5 star recruits...nationwide. But MS plays a certain style of schemed defense and the cream of the crop don't wish to play in this type of defense.

I believe part of our challenge comes from the offenses we face. We recruit for the Big 12 offenses and I'm not sure those kids are big/strong enough to face more power/running teams on a consistent, successful basis...

If you are a 4-5 star DL, DE or LB who has dreams of the NFL (and they all do), wouldn't you look to see how many players OU has sent to the pros that made it? And they don't look too far back for guys like Tommie Harris or even Gerald McCoy. Today's kids look at what a school did yesterday....literally. The entitlement generation.

Part of this entitlement generation you are talking about which, IMO, is very disturbing, is the number of kids leaving a school once they have signed a CONTRACT and then whining about stipulations. Unfortunately, the world seems to be the same way...
