I wanted Texas to lose against Okie Lite because I didn’t want even the slightest chance for them to make the final four, but now that they did I want to play them in the Big 12 Title.
First of all, If WVU loses to Texas I would see them dropping to around where Texas is now. That gives them 2 weeks to build their ranking back up to maybe 12-15 before we play them.
Second of all, that should jump Texas up to 12 or so. Then it gives them 3
more weeks to climb into the top 8 or so(which I think is very possible) before we played them.
Third of all, a win over @ top 7 WVU would look good, however the following week they probably land no higher than 13th on the most important week for the CFP committee to vote. Where as Texas (assuming they run the table which is a tall order) would be ranked top 8 and lowest of 10th. The committee is a group of humans who obviously are prone to recency bias as we’ve seen in the past with tOSU creaming Wisconsin to jump TCU. If we beat a top 10 Texas team in a rivalry game who anyone who likes football will be watching, we are in.
Fourth of all, Beating Texas in the conference title game would erase our one loss and show the committee( with even a decent defensive performance) that we are a changed team since RRR. It lets us declare something better then the rest of the 1 loss teams and that’s to say we’ve beaten every team we’ve played. Also Texas and Oklahoma In the Big 12 Title game would draw MILLIONS of eyes. It would be more watched then any Conference Title game save the SEC.
Lastly, I just want revenge. There is no doubt in my mind we win that game when it comes back around. We got jobbed on that last PI against Norwood or we win in OT. We finally got it together in the fourth quarter and racked up 21 points in SEVEN MINUTES. I know the defense got torched but as we’ve seen with Texas they haven’t come CLOSE to that offensive production since that game.
