I rarely post in the off-season, but I have to say this.

I should also add the abuse OU fans will be subject to at some of the SEC Stadiums will also be pretty bad at first so it may sour some on the whole SEC SEC SEC love. I have been to a few SEC Stadiums over the yrs and grew up in the South. Its gonna be rough for a lot of fans that travel to some of these places, especially Arkie, Lsu, the Mississippi Schools mostly. Probably Auburn as well. And we know Aggie gonna Aggie.

Oh, it’s gonna be bad, for sure. “Pulp can fly, baby”.

If we do end up moving, any Sooner fan that chants SEC, SEC, SEC, needs to be flayed and immolated at mid-field.
I'll NEVER chant that I didn't root for any other team in the Big 12 but OU and that won't change in the SEC yes I know when a team in the conference wins it helps OU especially if we already beat them but still not rooting for any other team in the conference nor will I chant SEC.

I'm torn on this move. I don't like the way cfb is trending as whole with the conferences and we are sitting pretty where we're at. Is the money worth it? Are we really going to add that much to defensive recruiting?

On the other hand leaving little Pokies out in the rain fills me with delight.

Both recruiting and $$$$ are king in semi-pro ball and OU will ride that horse well.

Build those dang trophy cases and add a ring of nosebleed seats for 35k more asses in the metro to make Medic’s job and retirement much more interesting.

Not necessary brother. We've dominated the B12 for 20 years now. The sec knoweth not what's coming their way with the invite. I wasn't real keen about joining the sec when the news broke out but, LR and Grinch have created an astronomical trajectory for OU and after much thought, I believe it's only gonna get better. BOOMER!

Not sure I am as confident but I sure like the sound of it!

Once the move happens I'm not getting my expectations too high it might take 2-3 years to get adjusted to the conference we should fair pretty good against the bottom half of the league but may struggle slightly against the top half will also wait to see how they do the divisions. Alabama will be tough to beat Georgia will be a toss up LSU & A&M will depend on how good they decide they want to be as well as Florida & Auburn I can foresee 2-3 losses to start with maybe 4. I'm just being realistic it's not like the Big 12 where we know what the play is like they will have to get used to the style of play I'm wondering how many fans will call for coaches to get fired because they have unrealistic expectations the first couple of years I have the confidence in our coaching staff to get things figured out.

I've lived in Georgia since 1994 and while I know the SEC isn't the best conference from top to bottom but I'm not setting high expectations the first 2-3 years give them some time to get used to the league and how they play build up recruiting classes get the "SEC" type of recruits then go from there even Gabe Ikard expects them to be able to compete but also understands they won't run the SEC like they do the Big 12.

I’m a part of the “rarely post” “me too” posting. Adding to the SEC, SEC, SEC chants include the Nebraska’s B1G skedaddle disparagement.

OU will now have to deal with the same issues as NU.

I think the other issue is depth. I know we are increasing our star power on the defensive side of the ball, but one or two key injuries could destroy a season. Even the lighter-weight SEC schools pound you so I expect us to have a new recruiting pitch (if you come, you will play).

No doubt it will be an adjustment and there will be some growing pains for sure. Depending on the timeframe of the departure from the BIG 12 moving out after this season gets all that underway, the sooner the better especially as far as recruits are concerned. And by that I mean those recruits that can go to an SEC School next year vs waiting for us to move if its not next season. It will all work itself out I guess but the sooner we can leave the better.
Nothing to gain by staying any longer than we have to.

Honestly the move to the SEC will only help the recruiting process. OU along with Texas will be players in taking some SEC recruits away from other SEC schools. The first year or two may be a bit of a struggle but I don’t expect it to tesult in 4 loss seasons. I could see a 9-3 / 10-2 type season though.

Many seem to think OU will become chopped liver once the move is made. I just don’t believe that.

Someone mentioned softball above, right now OU softball program remains one the nations best and going to the SEC isn’t going to change that. Gasso is the best coach in the nation right now and she gets the players she wants. I think even SEC fans understand they just added a new obstacle.

Overall the pressure will be on all of OU/Tx programs when they officially make the move but they will be fine.
