I hope we don't have too much afterglow after trouncing little brother last night.

West Virginia has been really good at home this season. 5-0. Senior night.

Let's not have a little letdown, screwing this thing up.

This surely has been conveyed by Riley to his team.
Prior to this altered season, this late season game on the road vs West Virginia was seen as a possible ambush game by many observers, especially the week after playing OSU.
With OU getting better with each game, I believe this team will be focused and prepared to play a good game.
I just wish it was a day game. Early forecast has temps in the low forties with no rain. Good football weather.

This game has me nervous to some degree, as most of the games do. But I'm seeing an OU team that's progressing well with each game, especially defensively and at QB.
West Virginia is a decent team and is playing at home, but I feel good about OU's chances in this game, with a defensive improvement that I haven't seen in a while.

OUr momentum is, defense in particular, scaling upward. I'm feeling real good. After OUr early struggles, we've got something to prove. Weather or not. 😡

I'm most nervous because WVU is undefeated at home, and coming off a bye week. OU is coming off an emotional win over OUr second rivals. Mix in the long trip and and the Holiday week. I'm just glad we're not playing on Thursday or Friday.

OU had a emotional gut-check overtime win over Texas and has played well from that game on.
West Virginia's 5 home wins were over Eastern Kentucky, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State and TCU.
No doubt that West Virginia could be tough and could ambush OU.
My point: OU has momentum going for it on several fronts and now has become a team far different....far better....than the team that lost two games in September, and with so much to play for even during a fractured year.

I sure wish one of our receivers would consistently step up and emerge as a number 1 receiver. Wease and Mins are both good but tend to disappear during games. Rambo disappears most of the game now.

The lack of Rambo production has surprised me a bit as well. That amazing catch in the Tx game seems like the only highlight of him I can remember thus far in the season. I know he had a nice conversion against OkieLite but overall he is either not on the field or not the preferred target for Rattler.

Starting to wonder if Wease and Mims are just better than Rambo, but then I know Rambo has been a solid contributor at OU. Is he hurt ?
I expect Rambo to enter the NFL draft next year, but next year, the receiving corps will be solid and will have new, dynamic talent coming.

I never loved Rambo. I was more surprised when he made a big play or two. I just don't remember a lot of competitive catches. If he's wide open on a deep ball, then he'll make 90% of those catches. Same on out routes. But he still seems slight, and he isn't great between the hash marks, in front of the safeties. He never seemed like a guy, to me, that would make him a good number one. He's a quality number three. When he's the primary focus of the defense, not very productive.

We are hopeful that we get the other two of last year's five stars back to work. Mims and Stoops have their contributions to make. If we get Stogner back, we should be okay.

Rambo is not as good as Wease or Mims or Hasselwood or maybe Bridges, but his disappearing act lately is strange.
He currently is OU's 4th leading receiver behind Mims, Stogner and Wease, with 20 catches for 254 yards and two TDS.
In 14 games last year he had 43 catches for 743 yards and 5 TDS, so he's been very much a part of OU's receiving corps until this year.
Has Riley mentioned anything about him? Has he been hurt or tested positive ? Is he in Riley's doghouse ? If he is, why isn't Bookie also ?
Rambo may be in his last year at OU. If he leaves, it's no big deal. If he stays, OU has a little more depth at WR.
For the record, I like Henderson's and Willis's contributions lately and freshman Trevon West can also be a factor and one to watch in the future.

Rambo is no better than the fourth best receiver on the team and that's being generous.
