I am hoping, wishing, praying for OU and Notre Dame to win

I want ND to win as well....as long as OU wins.
I have no interest in another Dixie championship game.

Oh, my wishes could backfire if we lose but Notre Dame wins. But nothing the Domers could do for my hatred of that program to become stronger.

Man I disliked them as well until I went to South Bend to watch the Sooners. I have to say that my wife & I was greeted very well and the Irish fans at the stadium were most excellent hosts. It surprised me big time. Even after OU won the game, their fans were very pleasant. They are a very proud fan base, and the nicest fan base that we've ever experienced. Perhaps it was because they respected our histories past and OU is a blue blood program. Whatever it was, I was impressed.

I have too many good friends that are Domers and I agree with you, they are great fans. It’s the program I despise, and them ending the streak has little to do with it.

Notre Dame, like the Yankees, have many haters. The hatred is mostly about the winning ways of both teams.
I don’t encounter too many Tulane or San Diego Padres haters.

That’s right, but why did Notre Dame ever have basically its own network to broadcast their games before cable TV? That’s just one.

My hatred...runs thusly:

1) Shorthorns
2) Okie Lite
3) Notre Dame
4) USC
5) Oregon

Baylor, Mizzou, Colorado, KU, and Miami were at one time included. Their relevance has diminished.

ND, USC, Ohio State, Miami, Texas....for me. I flip flop USU and Ohio State frequently. I’m beginning to hate Arkansas but they just aren’t worthy of my special hatred. LOL

fan bases
tOSU... just a bunch of arrogant pricks
LSU ... just a down right hate filled bunch
Longhorn.... their jealousy runs deeper than the Red River
TxAggie.... their trophy cabinet is bare and now hide behind SEC chants
Gators... damn I hate the chomp chant

My dislike for Notre Dame began in the sixties and had nothing to do with anything prior. But I have to admit, I teared up when Rudy was sitting on that bench and opened up his letter of acceptance. Damnit.
Me too....but I regard "Rudy" to be just a good movie depicting perseverance.....and obsession.

My take on ND. They should not have their own network, they should join a conference and should absolutely not get preferential treatment in the selection committee.

I lost my hatred of all things Domer when the curse was lifted by Stoops & Co. I've never hated the Tide, just thought their obsession over 100-year-old regional national championships was just a bit silly. But their fans treat ours well and vice-versa.

I guess the team that really gets me going is USC. I lived in California in the early 70's and the propaganda mill against OU was the worst I've ever seen. Every week I was subjected to ridicule for being a fan of the Sooners. When I went to the Coliseum in '73 to watch the Sooners play the the Trogons, the Pac-8 officials stole two touchdowns from OU on phantom illegal block downfield calls, resulting in a 7-7 tie.

There's more to it than that, but I don't want to be too chatty. There's a big game tonight, and nothing could be better than to have the chance to beat Saban & Co. in Miami Gardens, and with good play a chance to play the Domers (please!) or the Tigers, for the big trophy at Levi's Stadium in The Land of No Playoff Teams, Ever.

I'm living my dream... and it's beautiful.

List one, Hatred

- Suxass
- Miami (recent putridness has diminished the intensity of the loathing)
- Penn State (this is more disgust than hatred. I think they should put the Paterno statue back up but this time, appropriately, it should be looking the other way)

List two, LOL (mainly because of their pathetic and needy fans):

- Arkansas--yeah you were once pretty good and, yeah, you drilled us in 1978. Too bad about your epic suckage for the last decade or so.
- Little Brother--all the wrestling and golf trophies in the world don't compensate for a 90 game deficit in football. Hanging a banner for 1945 is the ultimate chickenshit move

List three, Dislike (because their histories equal or exceed ours)

- Ohio State
- USC

Notre Dame used to be on lists one and three but since my son married a wonderful young lady from South Bend (whose family members are huge Irish fans) has removed the Domers from inclusion on any of the above lists.

I opened this thread intending on saying I hope to watch ND get roasted tonight. Can't stand the gold domers. But this post may have changed my mind. If their fanbase is full of really cool fans, then what the heck I can get behind hoping they knock off Clemson.

I don't know Clemson, they're probably good to go as well... but the Irish I met that day, the greeters, the ones that offered to take our pic in front of Touchdown Jesus, the many tailgaters that invited us in their area... even those at the restaurant after the game... they were all very cool peeps!

Sorry, but it would be sweeter to beat Clemson for the National Championship after Clemson embarrassed us twice recently in the playoffs. Because of this, I think OU would have extra motivation.

Yep, ND is no match for Clemson right now. Unless something changes after halftime ND may get blown out.
If both Notre Dame and Oklahoma get blown out, it will strengthen the stranglehold that Alabama and Clemson have over college football....and give the boys at ESPN a multiple "O".
And as of tonight Alabama has the top recruiting class and Clemson has a #5 ranked class....OU has the #6th ranked class and Notre Dame has the 11th ranked class....but what happens to these recruits upon their arrival at Alabama and Clemson seem to be very different than those at OU and ND. The level of play on both sides of the ball is more physical and fundamentally sound than that anywhere else from my view. And the talent level is off the charts.
True freshman Trevor Lawrence, Clemson's QB, looks like a potential Heisman candidate next year and beyond. Barring injury, he looks to be an early departure for the NFL. I don't remember a true freshman QB making such an impact since Holieway did in 1985 when he led OU to a national championship. I'm sure there have been some that I am not aware of.

As good as OU, Notre Dame and Michigan were, they were nowhere near the level of Alabama, Clemson and Florida.
Dixie is where it's at for college football. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
