Hurts looks great!

I watched the game. Hurts did good. A few runs would have gone for touchdowns had they not being playing touch on the QBs. He was out last two series. Mordecai struggled. They kept him in the entire time.

I would of thought Mordecai would have done better considering he has been in the system a little while now. Maybe just had an off night

Mordecai threw a 50 yard td on the first play is what I heard
He did, but was way more Morris than Mordecai. It was a little 3 yard drag route that LM reached back behind him & made one heck of a one handed catch on. Jones made a pretty weak attempt on the tackle or it’d never have gone that far.

well its not hard to look good when you know you aren't going to get hit! How bout Mordecai?

Hurts looked 100% better than Mordecai. Hurts had a complete control of the offence and he look quick and was very accurate with his passes and he looked almost exactly like Kyler Murray.

Mordecai's offense was in disarray and he threw a long interception on a bad pass.
His TD pass to Lee Morris was a short pass of 3 or 4 yards which was thrown too high but Morris made a leaping one handed catch and ran about 50 yards for a TD.

The game only lasted for about an hour and I don't think we had anybody seriously injured in the game. Parnell Motley looked like he had a very minor injury
.

All of our young WRs looked excellent. We are loaded at WRs and these freshmen will give us huge depth. CD Lamb did not even play.

Also with 4 OL starters from last season going to the NFL and with last season's starting center Humphrey not playing in the Spring game, it was difficult for me to evaluate our OL who did look adequate protecting Hurts and opening up holes for Hurt's & Kennedy's runs.
Pledger also looked good.

Thoughts on the defense? I saw a slight improvement on hustle and getting more hats to the ball.

Lol He’s going to be a starter they say... he is neck and neck with Hurts in the QB battle they say :D:D

Hurts had better protection. I also thought he took off running too soon on several plays. Mordecai seemed to settle in as the game progressed. The D was really hard to evaluate ...lots of missing parts. The D-line did seem to get more consistent penetration. I am very optimistic about the D. Hurts will start vs UH but at this point he's a slight drop off from our past 2 QB's.

At this point, only being on campus for 3 months. From what I saw there isnt much a drop off at all. Hurts, what was he, 11/14 for 141 and a TD, in one half of play, I think Murray was something like 7/20 for 60 yards last year. At seasons end Hurts may be the best of the 3, of course he will have better tools at his disposal than the other 2 did. Should be fun to watch.

was at the game last night....a bit cool but tolerable for sure....speaking of...looking like good decision to switch days given the chilly rains that've moved in today. so some scattered observations... very nice crowd. announced at 50,000. decent energy despite the change in dates and high number of injury-related non-players. fun to see kyler (in sunglasses of course) being the big-dog again one last time. now it's jalen's turn. JH style and performance reminiscent of kyler and baker. unfortunately mordecai falls under the "just not as good" label. obvious difference between hurts and mordecai, especially given the short time JH as been here. TM either badly overthrew, threw behind or threw too low on most of his passes. pledger and brooks looked solid...both guys fast and elusive. REALLY love the new receivers...Stogner is a stone bad ass for 18 yrs old...big target with good hands...same with Wease, Haselwood and Bridges. Uncoverable. you'd see em break open but TM would wait too long and waste the play. Defensively you've got Lattimore on the D-Line looking aggressive, Selvie hitting hard but not much else stood out. i will go on a short limb and say 2019 a repeat of 2018. out-offense everybody but lose one game because of defense.

Hurts was the steadyEddie for the most part, not making mistakes but not as accurate as Kyler. However Trejan bailed out Hurts on a bad pass off of Hurts back foot that didn’t make it there.... Hurts moved them down the field with just that one significant mistake....

Mordecai was pressing, made mistakes, but looked quicker afoot than expected....

Schaeffer was the best passer of the three ,by a noticeable amount, in accuracy and delivery, looked more like a natural QB than the other two...

Lee Morris has to start he is a TD machine,,..

Running game will be dominant.....

I think Hurts starts as the most proven and mistake free QB. He looks Big enough to run without getting hurt...but we all know how that goes....

This is pretty much how he was at Bama. Not nearly as accurate of a passer as we are used to, but doesn't make a lot of mistakes and can run the ball effectively when needed. If you have a great all around team then that is enough to win a NC. I'm not sure we are going to have that kind of team this year but it should be interesting.

I think the fans are going to be rattling boxes of M&Ms by mid season.

Well Hurts has been with the team for a lot less time than Mordecai or Murray so we will see but no way he won't be the starter. Riley most certainly can pull that off just like last year with Murray.
