Protecting Mike's Job may have been a prerequisite for Bob's agreeing to some 'Terms'...A Bargaining Chip, perhaps?
Oh, C'mon, JC...Allow a gal her Fantasies!Ha! You're imagining this situation playing out in a time when men honored their word. I guarantee Bob is not ignorant enough to believe that any agreements he makes are binding once his power is gone. Not in today's world.

PM me some...
Hey, I like your idea and thinking.... I just had to call you out for having your head in the sky on this one.
Maybe I'm not a good enough loyalist, but speculating anything about Bob doesn't interest me anymore. I thank him for his contributions and I'll always look back on him fondly for righting the ship, getting a big one, and keeping the program image at a marquee level.
Other than that, I couldn't care lesswhy he left, what the agreements were, and what he's going to do with the rest of his life. I hope it's as good as possible, but it's none of my business anymore.
Lincoln Riley is dead in my sights now.
Picture Lincoln, Joe and Bob having a nice lunch and Linc goes, "well, I've decided to locate, recruit and hire a new DC. Bob, would you pass the salt, please?"
(No Oedipal complex intended)
Maybe the whole staff knows; Bob's a defensive guru. Perhaps his task is to help Joe C find Mike's replacement..
One thing the Sooners need is a high energy recruiter to keep the young talent deep. It always sucks when talent being recruited flips but where one of those asshats stand...there are those under radar players that are hungry and willing to be a Sooner for life. Not sure how well Mike Stoops' track record is for defensive recruits...if he is worth keeping around.
