Agreed and you can bet the phones will be hot this week contacting defensive recruits.I would like to believe the recruits see this as a sign that OU is trying to improve defensively and to provide a great opportunity for these recruits to help OU reestablish its defensive presence.
I think the recruits should see this move as a positive as well. Mike really hasn't brought anything to the table since his return anyway.
They are 0-5 for a reason. Of course the only team that gave up more points to them this season so far is Washington. They scored 24 against Washington and 21 against us.
Mike's dismissal is not the problem with recruits. It's always been the negative coach postings on the Scoop that will eventually cause the recruits to look elsewhere. That's what I've always been told here.
Could I have been misled?

I have been told by a high school coach in Texas (my nephew) that it is what the coaches and players say that influences recruits....not a bunch of frustrated old deplorable white guys suffering from "toxic masculinity" (the newest feminist condemnation).Yeah I was told recently that my posts about Mike can cost us recruits.
I am pretty sure my posts about the Defense the past few yrs have cost OU at least 10 Five Star Defensive Recruits, at least 2 National Titles, at least 4 injuries and the Joe Mixon incident.
I really need to be more careful what I type.![]()

Good to hear. From what's been reported so far, all committed defensive recruits are still committed and on board. Things could change of course w/ one or two based on who they bring in. But so far all is good.
Personally if I were a Recruit and have seen Mikes Defense over the years and told OU thanks but no thanks recently, I would be taking a harder look now that OU and Lincoln are stepping up to make that side of the ball just as important as the Offensive side. That has to appeal to most Defensive Recruits I would think rather than make them not want to come. They are not blind, they know how bad it had become.
Just my 2 peanuts worth.![]()
I just heard on The Animal this evening that Mike said in the post game conference that, "it was like they always knew what we were doing."
They went on to say that they've heard this very same thing from many coaches within the Big XII... That Mike was extremely predictable.
I have always wanted to be an evil Twitter-Er. But did not have a troll bone in my body.
Come join the new Sooner wave defensive recruits. You CAN make a difference and not deal with confusion and frustration. Bring it !!
Reminds me of THIS, opk...That's the VERY THING you want to avoid. Do what they DON'T EXPECT! It's like Ping Pong: "Hit 'em where they ain't" [/SMQB]
I agree, 67, and add my 2 cents. but we still can't buy a cup of coffee with that! By-the-Way, It had to make you feel good that your ultimatum to divorce the board swayed the Talking Heads and the Suits, and brought down the 'House of Stoops'! Deal Breaker...Perfect Timing! Thank You!![]()
Agree, 67...Plaino was DEFINITELY The Tipping Point!Ha ha SS! I guess the cats out of the bag now!
Who would have thought my Ultimatum and your Letter would bring about change? I have been told iasooner put in a Phone Call or two.
Never underestimate the power of the Peanut Gallery! Lol
I have to give credit where credit is due, Plaino set the whole thing in motion.![]()
